Hi, guys. As I know a lot of you are British, could you recommend me places to visit and things to do in Manchester, Sheffield and Liverpool? I'm going to spend about 3 days in each city. I'm mostly interested in landmarks, cultural activities, food and drink and anything music-related, including record shops.
Thanks!

Never been to Sheffield and Liverpool, but been to Manchester twice and I have good friends in Manchester. Here's my favourite places in Manchester: - Afflecks (I can sniffing around in all those stuffs they have there for hours and hours) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afflecks- Picadilly Records (highly recommended) - Dry Bar - Hard Rock Cafe - Hacienda (there's not much left now, but you can have a look of the building - now appartment) Stay safe and have a good trip!

My English friend told me that there's a wall or door left with all those band's names which ever played in Hacienda on it in the parking space in the basement of Hacienda, but only residence of the apprtment can enter in the parking space. I'm not a football fan myself, but I've been to the City of Manchester stadium and Old Trafford too. You can take a stadium tour if you have time. The stadium tour in the Old Trafford finishes with a huge screen which plays "This Is The One" by The Stone Roses as they're United supporters. My friend's wife has her own seat in the stadium when United plays in their home ground. She's been watching the match in the stadium for entire her life, but she just noticed that a few line behind her seat, there was the seat for Ian Brown. She didn't know that until she pop up him during the match. My friend got me his autograph on their CD cover.

Every time I travel to the UK I'm secretly wishing to bump into one of my heroes. It's only happened once (with the guy in your avatar), but that was next to the Albert Hall when I was wandering around until I could enter the venue (I got two singles signed). I'm not a football fan myself, so I guess I'll skip the stadium tours. But I'll keep an eye for famous Mancunian musicians

Can't vouch for any of the other suggestions but definitely go to Picadilly Records.

There's a lot to do in Liverpool, but I'm not too familiar with the other cities. Obviously the biggest attraction to the city from around the world is The Beatles and the football. If you're in Liverpool, take a trip around to the Albert Docks to The Beatles Story museum. It's brilliant. www.beatlesstory.com/albert-dock Also, you can go to John Lennon and Paul McCartney's childhood homes for guided tours, though you'd have to book through the National Trust, as they own the properties now. People still live in George and Ringo's old homes.

I would also check out the Magical Mystery Tour www.cavernclub.org/the-magical-mystery-tour/. It takes you to all the locations associated with them, ending back at The Cavern and is great fun. Did all three and my hotel handled all the bookings.

In liverpool. Take the BEATLES tour it starts out at the cavern club , they will show. You all 4 of the houses where they grew up , it's very cool . They will also take you thru PENNEY lane , And you can visit the TNE orphanage known as strawberry feild ....... The cavern club if it's still open is amazing
In manchester ... Go to the water , it's a bit seedy , but it beats city centre , it is wher you will find true mancunians and have a great time ...the clubs in manchester are a bit trendy , but worth it .

I enjoyed wandering the Nothern Quarter area in Manchester. You'll find a few music shops there like Picadilly records. Piccadilly Gardens itself is a nice park to enjoy. If you like museums the Peoples History Museum is a good time.
I never got the chance to go but there is apparently a very nice Smiths set up at the Saldord Lads Club in Salford, which is just over the river from Manchester city centre.
Don't forget a trip to Mr Sifters!
