Off topic, a few years ago manicsfan scolded me for not knowing Ireland wasn't part of the U.K..... Well, in that time I've asked probably 20 other Americans if they knew the countries that make up the U.K. and none of the people I've asked knew - people ranging from young to old, college educated, and people that have even visited the U.K., and none of them knew. The other day I asked a librarian, you know, people who know stuff and she didn't know. So, fuck you, manicsfan! Just kidding! manicsfan is a total ass clown, but he didn't bother me because I'm not a sensitive pussy. I'm actually in kind of awe of him, he's pretty much the sole reason an entire new forum was created....one time some one told me I could upset the Devil, but, I think being the reason for an entire exodus of people is more impressive. God bless.

Oh I thought we were talking about Noel's Oasis songs vs Liams songs. As in people who would think Champagne Supernova is less good as Better Man or something. That would be weird. For me it almost always feels like there's something missing in Liams songs. And while I like some Beady Eye songs, I detest most of them. They're not my style and sound unfinished. Noel's songs are more my style, and I don't have a problem with people liking Beady Eye better. Now if you say LAG are better songwriters than Noel in general, that'd be something I wouldn't understand at all. I think the general consensus from people who enjoy Beady Eye more is the heart and soul of what was being produced. It was lads making music because they love making music. It also became like they had a point to prove again. Like when you like that band no one else does. So playing people flick of the finger or one of the bonus songs off BE makes them realise oh hang on Beady Eye aren't complete shit and HFB isn't the only Gallagher worth listening to. After the split, I have supported both Gallaghers and never made an allegiance to one or the other. But what became so obvious to me, even more so than in the Oasis days, was Noel Gallagher has crafted his persona and image to come across as likeable in the eyes of the public. Its something he's tried to do to distance himself from the typical Gallagher mad fer it attitude of the 90s. Basically we have Noel Gallagher who produces good but very generic songs with a very generic and at times boring vocal ,a man who would much rather have a single on a commercial to get him sales figures to back up his tag of genius songwriter rather than pleasing his loyal fans. And we have Liam Gallagher, who's songs aren't consistent but have heart and passion and alongside the best voice I've ever heard I will always get more excited for an LG project than Noel.

I definitely agree with this. He almost has had to over the years. People soured fast on that Liam Gallagher fuck all attitude he had in the mid 90s. It was a major turnoff to a lot of people, especially Americans. You can sorta get away with that when the music is outstanding and you are top of the world but when Oasis started to slip, the Liam bravado never shrank. Sadly in America Oasis became known more for antics over albums.

Like Robbie Williams, Liam needs to be paired with a songwriting who has some chops to them. Then get a modern, hip producer like Danger Mouse. It'll do wonders for Liam's next musical chapter. I don't care who writes the songs as long as they are good tunes!

And it creates such a weird situation for me because when music comes up with friends, they'll say they can't stand Liam and like Noel. Which then forms the basis of people not minding HFB and not giving beady eye a chance. I find it hard to accept Liam being made out to be the twat and Noel being the likeable one when in reality many who've met them say its completely different. Obviously Noel having such an image was great while being an Oasis fan when it was the Gallaghers vs the world in a way. Since the split though, I've found myself having to defend Liam and Beady Eye that much to people that it sounds as if I have an allegiance. I think that's the main issue of the forum really since 2011.

If Beady Eye split up because of sales then why is Johnny Marr, Miles Kane etc who sold far less than them still making music? Beady eye could have easily gone on making how many albums they like. Noels first album was proof that it isn't a fantastic album that gets you sales, its a fantastic bit of marketing. I prefer the world where the listener listens to what they love, not what they are told they should like.

Bloated, old rock star strumming a few chords of a nothing song. It's sad to see. Why is it sad? I have already asked this but people who describe it as sad don't seem to be able to give me an explanation. I would really like to know why it is sad for Liam to take his son to the area where his family are from and have a drink and a strum down the pub with the locals. Its baffling.

I think that's the main issue of the forum really since 2011. What you're saying is not wrong, you definitely have a point here. But in my opinion Liam's private life and the scandal which exploded in 2013 made the things much, much worse, especially if we're considering casual fans and public perception. If before that many people thought "Liam's not as talented as Noel" (which, at least in terms of songwriting talent, surely can't be denied), after all that tabloid garbage they probably switched to the "Liam's a twat" way of thinking. I'm not condemning anything to anybody here, but to be fair Liam wasn't only made out to be the twat, he also made himself out to be a twat. I don't know if I've expressed myself properly... And I'll be brutally honest: If I were not a big Oasis fan I'd probably think the same as those people. The fact that I'm such a massive fanatic makes me see things in a different light.

When I get in to a conversation with people about the Gallagher's it 9/10 goes something like this
People: Which one do you prefer? Me: I'm more of a Liam fan myself People: He's the one that's a dick isn't he? Me: Sigh
Noel has been as big of an idiot as Liam has since the split but because Noel is all witty with it and knows how to play the press he always comes out looking the best.
I wish people saw how Liam is with his fans, one of the most down to earth celebrities you could meet. When I got a chance to meet him that night, he kept on coming to me asking if I was alright and making a fuss, what other celebrity would care what some competition winner is up to when he's on the piss with all his best mates?

However I cannot agree entirely. Its been discussed alot about first album and it contributed a lot to the lack of chance given to them. But I still think under the name Liam Gallagher, The Roller helps shift that album in the way What A Life did. As much as we are quick to say about the fan base. I think Noel owes a hell of a lot of his sales to the most casual of fans. The sort who know little about Oasis. Its been evident to me at gigs ever since I seen HFB. I think Liam could tap into some of that market too with a well thought out promotion.

Yes,for sure,he got those casual fans on board with What A Life and all those interviews with Johnatan Ross,Graham Norton etc. that showed his witty and funny side And I agree with the fact that Liam could have attracted some of those fans with a better promotion I'm not sure he would have been able to shift as many records as Noel who was and still is seen as the brain behind Oasis and the talented brother songwriting-wise,but The Roller as a first single would have changed a lot,Bring The Light put off a lot of people

Maybe not as many as HFB but I think he would get close to the CY figures if he lacked a single like Noel clearly has. We dismiss on here the power of Liam still as an icon. Pretty Green wouldn't be what it is now if he didn't still have a massive fanbase.

There are enough examples to the contrary which put into doubt your 'facts'. Quality V Sales? It's the fact that the BE albums aside from a few decent tunes were poor, be it the songs from Bell, Archer or LGx. In terms of public perception, LG has pretty much ruined his own public image by fathering kids he doesn't want to know etc,its hard to defend him given his actions. He's not a kid anymore either, he's a 40odd year old man. Is Noel a vagina to fans? probably at times, but he certainly in general comes off as being way more intelligent and a family man compared to LGx which people like him for.
