We all know BHN is long, crazy and over the top. But would having it broken into 2 parts (thinking Mellon Collie) with a couple more songs make it seem less so and easier to digest? Or would have make BHN even more bloated and unthinkably in your face?
Your mission: Create a double album BHN of two 7 or 8 track CDs. Include Bsides as needed.
My attempt
D'You Know What I Mean? My Big Mouth Magic Pie Stand by Me Stay Young Fade in Out Flashbax
Be Here Now (bit more like the live version though) I Hope I Think I Know Don't Go Away Going Nowhere All Around the World It's Getting Better Man All Around the World (reprise)
Wow, that is heavy. I wanted to stick The Fame in there but its too similar to IHITIK.
Is it pointless? I don't know. Just soemthign I thought of.

I would hardly call either of these a true double album. I'm thinking at least 20 songs guys. And yes, that would be unbearably long. I recently repurchased Mellon Collie, and I have to say it is a bit too long. I skip almost half of the tracks.

dont know , you know the problem with music since the 90s is i guess kids in this generation want lps to be a tidy 45 to 55 minutes ,
i love the long lps with the extended solos it feels like the lps i copped in 70s and early 80s , wouldnt make it anything but what it was
attention spans in this age of it gotta be quick and fast have gotten smaller , thankfully noel thinks more along the old school or at least he did. love it the way it is

Though I don't think anything that they would have done back then would have postponed the media onslaught they got. Whatever happened, no matter the album, there would have been a backlash. Anyway, in the spirit of the thread:
1. D'Yer Know What I Mean? 2. My Big Mouth 3. Stand By Me 4. The Girl In The Dirty Shirt 5. I Hope, I Think, I Know 6. The Fame 7. It's Gettin Better (Man!!!)
1. Stay Young 2. Flashbax 3. Fade In/Out 4. Don't Go Away 5. All Around The World 6. All Around The World (Reprise)
Also, just to say, I would only tweak one or two things with the album itself anyway:
1. D'Yer Know What I Mean? 2. My Big Mouth 3. Stay Young 4. Stand By Me 5. I Hope, I Think, I Know 6. The Girl In A Dirty Shirt 7. Fade In/Out 8. Flashbax 9. Don't Go Away 10. It's Gettin' Better (Man!!) 11. All Around The World + Reprise

Keeping the original album structure and adding in my favourite b-sides around the other songs, this clocks in at a massive 1 hour, 37 minutes.

Didn't Noel originally want to put musical interludes between all the songs but they couldn't fit it on one CD so they cut them out?

If this were a "double album" like reflektor was for Arcade Fire I would be slighty pissed.

I assume double albums counted for double sales back then like they do now?
If so the first week sales in the UK (in 3 days) would've been 1.4 million+....

Didn't Noel originally want to put musical interludes between all the songs but they couldn't fit it on one CD so they cut them out? Yep, David Jay asked Owen Morris about this on his interview blog, Noel composed and co-arranged instrumental pieces with the 80-piece (or however big it was) orchestra they hired for All Around the World So a 2 CD version was apparently considered at one time.

Now..a proper 2CD version of Be Here Now as a double CD? That would have been a proper top way to end the Oasis mark 1 phase
