That was a great Andy interview. Sounded almost like a fan of this forum conducted it. Good questions.

World outside my Room is such a great song, i really wish Beady Eye would have gone down that road. stripped song, just the tune, the voice and some guitars. it has a natural feel almost no other of their song has, bar maybe back after the break
Sometimes no production is the better production.

I'd have preferred if Andy had led them down a shoe gaze route - that's Andy at his best right there, and no doubt Liam's vocals would have been well suited to that style. I'm delighted Andy's back with Ride, never thought it would happen - to hear him and his band mates play Nowhere again is pretty special and long overdue. And his opinion on Definitely Maybe is spot on - it's not as retro as critics like to think, who are more preoccupied with trying to confirm their own delusions. It's classic standard songwriting but very modern sounding for the time, with feedback, effects pedals, reverb, etc - it takes a lot from the shoegaze bands along with acts like Jesus and the Mary Chain. There was the retro influences but Oasis in the 90s were modern guitar rock, as opposed to 2000s Oasis which was just retro and derivative sounding in my opinion. Listening to Psychedelic Machine, I'm a bit frustrated that he didn't bring these ideas to the table with Beady Eye. BE touched upon it - as the interview alludes - but I think if he had gone full on with it, Beady Eye could have released by far the most interesting post Oasis album yet. Sadly we will never hear what could have happened.

Sadly we will never hear what could have happened. The problem is when you have the most iconic singer of our generation in the band, you have to write 'proper' songs and I think lyrically, and with the choruses, all 3 members just fell short. It's a shame they couldn't write something like an early Ride record with Liam just singing, I hope Andy goes on to make some interesting stuff whether it's with Ride or not.

I am more pleased Ride are back. They will do a new album most likely soon. I don't know why they just didn't reform Ride and get Liam to sing on the album, Beady Eye were just Oasis without Noel doing sixties music. I wasn't anything astounding.
I think Liam would sound great singing on these songs... but that is just my opinion of course (again)
