Ok, not sure of this thread has been done before (probably has, but cannot find it), so if you had one shot at creating the ultimate Oasis album, what would it be?
You have to choose a track list similar to how Noel would typically go about it (track 1. huge opener, track 2. fast and catchy, track 3. the all-important slow number, track 4. chart single, etc.), with ideally 11 tracks on the album.
It can be any selection of songs from their discography, B sides included. Remember, this is not a greatest hits album full of singles, but a list of songs that would work together overall as an album.
Mine would be -
1. Some Might Say (ultimate Oasis song, IMO, and would be a great opener).
2. The Fame - fast, upbeat tempo
3. Going Nowhere - it was a toss-up between this and the Masterplan, but I've always preferred this.
4. Stay Young - should have been on BHN, and would be the perfect single.
5. I got (the Fever) - epic, rocking B side, again should have been on BHN
6. Live Forever - taking a breather, change of pace, another epic song
7. Round Are Way - picking the pace up again, another track that could have been a single
8. Step Out - back where it originally was on WTS, keeping the upbeat tempo
9. I'm Outta Time - time for a slow love song, and IMO this is one of the best, definitely the best thing from Oasis MK2
10. All Around the World - love it or loathe it, it's an epic track, Noel once said it was his best, and probably would stand out more had it been on a different album, other than BHN, which was all too much of being loud and long.
11. Who Put the Weight of the World on my Shoulders? - great closer, one of my favourite songs, and one that should have been a single, and should have appeared on an album.
Now this would have been a great Oasis album....

I could personally make three perfect albums cos there are so many great great great tunes. But if it had to be the best of the best and still sound that they belonged together. The album would flow like this...
D'you know what I mean Rock n roll star Live forever Don't look back in anger The Masterplan Supersonic Some Might Say Whatever Listen Up Slide Away Champagne Supernova

Fuckin in the Bushes The Shock of the Lightning My Big Mouth Magic Pie (Shorter edit) Stand by me Come on it's Alright Falling Down Songbird Fade In/Out Don't go Away It's Getting better Man!!! All Around the World (Edit)
Of course all of these do not consider the eras they were individually recorded.

Try this as a playlist, it works really well. I thinks Married With Children is the best album closer of Oasis

I love these kind of threads. I'll need to go away and think about it for several hours before posting an album though.

The DEFINITIVE answer:
1. D'You Know What I Mean? (best opener, massive tune) 2. Live Forever (classic) 3. Wonderwall (One for the ladies, chart topper) 4. Don't Look Back in Anger (No comment needed at this point) 5. The Masterplan (Best written song by Noel) 6. Half the World Away (Acoustic moment) 7. Let's All Make Believe (Bringing the mood down for a darker run of songs) 8. The Hindu Times demo version (Driving beat, great guitars, preferably Liam vox) 9. Gas Panic! (Amazing song, peak of the darkness) 10. Supersonic (Brings the optimism back for the big finish) 11. Slide Away (Rocking love, great penultimate tune) 12. Champagne Supernova (Best song they did imo, perfect closer)
How would this rank against other bands ultimate albums like Radiohead, The Smiths or even Coldplay?

1. Rock 'n' Roll Star- Greatest Opener and Biggest Statement of Intent by any band 2. Acquiesce 3. Live Forever 4. Wonderwall 5. The Masterplan 6. Some Might Say 7. Whatever 8. Listen Up 9. Slide Away 10. Stand By Me 11. Champagne Supernova
5 DM era, 5 MG era and 1 BHN era,
Says it all really,
I love songs like Gas Panic! and TIOBI but couldn't make the fit onto a perfect flowing album
Similarly like Noel said on Lock the Box, with DYKWIM? Unless used as an opener, it really disrupts any flow, so that had to be cut
Also it might look like a greatest hits selection but only 5 of the 11 tracks were actual singles!
