That's Jim McLean away.

Such a shame. A right hard bastard but a proper football man.

That's Jim McLean away. RIP. One of the last great Scottish manager, along with Dalglish and Fergie. The journey he gave me, my mates and our city was incredible. Only ever met him once at an open day in the late 90s. Took 4 of us up to his office where we sat and chatted to him for about an hour. Still got the photaes. RIP JYM.

Fuck off McInnes, only saving grace this year is that I don't have to freeze my arse off watching this turgid shite every week.

Not necessarily going back, but stagnant for years. It's just accepting mediocrity - surely the Aberdeen fans have greater ambitions than that but I never hear uproar from them?

He had a large amount of goodwill built up after the league cup and second place finishes which probably helped keep the wolves from the door for a while but that's long gone for most fans now. I think most had accepted after 2016/17 when we lost nearly all of our key players (Hayes, McGinn, Judas, Pawlett to name a few all leaving at once) that there was going to be a transitional period so were willing to excuse results for a period of time. However he's been backed to the hilt the last couple of years with a massive squad, our biggest ever wage budget and a transfer budget which has probably crept well into 7 figures by now yet we're still going backwards year on year playing worse and worse football. Unfortunately he's also on an extorionate wage so with the current financial situation brought about by Covid we can't afford to sack him so unless there's a horrendous run of form and we drop lower than 4th (which will probably be enough for Europe assuming one of the ugly sisters wins the Scottish Cup) we're stuck with him until the end of next season probably.

Scott Burns (who's usually ITK with Aberdeen news) seems to be saying he's walked by mutual consent rather than being sacked which I hope is true and would respect him for that.
I now await us hiring someone horribly disappointing and be back to battling just to make top 6 every year!

Ah it's sad, nice to see a manager have a lengthy spell but it was a few years past its sell by date, poor signings and things stagnated. I used to go to Pittodrie a few times when I went to uni at Aberdeen, and that was under Craig Brown while catching a wee bit of McInness towards the end of my stay. It was dire football under Brown and McInness definitely freshened it up, but the last couple of years it seems like McInnes was turning it back into the Brown style unfortunately. Will be interesting to see who they go for next. New owners, good infrastructure - ripe for a talented young coach maybe, one who will get them playing attractive football.

Stephen Glass to ride into Pittodrie on his Coca Cola bike? Haha I hope not, very poor record at Atlanta. Praying that's just a lazy link because of the Aberdeen/Atlanta connection. I want something a bit different, someone with no connections to Scottish football who doesn't believe we should be grateful for finishing 3rd and isn't scared of the OF.

There's talk of this Maresca lad who coaches Man City's U23s. Very technical and progressive coach, might be interesting in modernising the club?

Would definitely be an interesting one and one I could get behind although can't see it happening. Seems to be one of the front runners for the Celtic job. Last time we got one of the previous front runners for the Celtic job we ended up with McGhee!

Looks increasingly like Glass is your man with Broon his assistant? Tell you what mate, after seeing you lot on Saturday - that squad needs overhauled big time.

Official now (Glass that is but seems highly likely Brown will be joining). Underwhelming to say the least but willing to give him a shot. Going to be very strange seeing Brown in AFC gear I must admit...
Thankfully half our squad is out of contract this summer so will get a chance to put his mark on the squad straight away. Considine is our only defender under contract for next year and we have no strikers at all so plenty of budget to play with. Decent young core to work with as well with Ferguson, McCrorie and Campbell.

What were your toughts on Ronald Hernández time in Scotland? He got there just before covid took over and then he just went to Atlanta.

Aberdeen have a "strategic partnership" with Atlanta (we're now Atlanta's bitches) and the signing was clearly never meant for us. The rumours were that Atlanta loaned us the cash for the transfer fee and we were basically holding him until Atlanta had a free foreign player space in their squad. He never got a chance with us so can't really comment on him ability wise, he got hung out to dry by McInnes who clearly wasn't happy he had no say in signing him so had no intentions of playing him.

Don't see the point in this - surely an experienced or well qualified young assistant would be much preferable number two for a first time manager in the SPL?
