for the dying of the light what is the line... the NME think its "woke up stinking on a train that was bound for Norway"
i think the line is "woke up sleeping on a train that was bound for no-where"
the other option which makes the most sense is "woke up stinking on a train that was bound for no-where"
what are peoples thoughts which is correct...iv listened it like 20 times and im stuck between all three!

Anyone who continues to say that Noel isn't a good lyricist or that his lyrics mean nothing, doesn't "get" Noel, and never will. All these lyrics are classic Noel, too.
And, for what it's worth, The Dying of the Light is one of the most beautiful tracks Noel has ever done. Everything about that track, fucking hell.

It's actually irking me just a bit how the lyrics on this aren't being appreciated as much as they truly deserve. There's so much feeling in the words.

I actually think The Mexican Lyrics in the chorus are:
Thought I was talking about a new religion

In regards to the listed lyrics for the song "The girl with x-ray eyes" In the Chorus: "So she took me by the hand We followed clues left in the sand as she swallowed space and time We gathered, pulled, and swam She shot me to the sun, like a bullet from the gun..." I don't hear the word swam when I hear the song. To me the word sounds like it rhymes with time. Hand and Sand rhyme and so do Sun and Gun. It would make more sense Time would rhyme with something at the end of the next line. Anyway it does sound like it starts with an s sounding word. But for the life of me I have no idea what the word could be. Anyone else not sold on swam being the word Noel sings? If anyone with has a better idea of what the lyric actually is I would love the feedback. Thanks

Isn't pearls for swine a common expression in English?

Isn't pearls for swine a common expression in English? Not really. Casting pearls before swine. I don't know if it's "common" enough or not but I've heard it all my life, and I'm from Pakistan, so...

I have no idea what it means so it reads a bit weird. I don't think of poetic stuff when I read the word "swine".
And when I read "we gathered pearls and swine" I envisage Noel and some chick greedily grabbing a pearl necklace and chasing a swine on a beach for some reason.
