I don't know how to put this in word without sounding rude but NME is literally a middle school music magazine. It used be better but any true music fan doesn't take anything they say seriously. Pitchfork may be snobby but they've actually gotten better with their elitist shit. The NME is the TMZ of music and the prop up really really fucking shitty British bands. I really can't take them seriously at all and neither should anyone here. They aren't even real music journalists. This isn't a reaction to their album review, more like cry for people to stop giving them clicks. As much as I agree, 7/10 with a pretty positive review on the whole is nothing to get up in arms about. As much as we love the album we should not celebrate the good reviews and argue the toss or worse ignore the bad ones. Take the rough with the smooth and I am sure this album is strong enough to come out at the right side.

I think reviews are interesting and all, but I'm not bothered with NME's 7/10. I know what I like, and I like this album. And that some magazine, with articles written by mildly retarded baboons, gives it a 7 out of 10, doesn't influence that opinion at all.

I do care about nicely written reviews though, and that NME review looks like it was written by a schoolboy who's heard the album once. Poor.

Honestly man, as badly written as that review is, there are very few negative comments to be seen apart from noting its not without fault, what album is? No tracks were talked about in a bad light. The NME is today's equivalent of smash hits magazine. The score did not reflect the review for me but 7/10 is not a million miles away. Being on the cover does not and should not effect a review.

I think that's the first review that dismisses The Right Stuff, isn't it?

Sorry, should've been more clear. The point of my post was that it was badly written, which makes it hard to take it seriously, not that they gave it a 7/10. That's actually pretty close to what I would give it myself, I think.

I just want to see if this album will be better received than NGHFB or not

I just want to see if this album will be better received than NGHFB or not I am confident it will be. It is so much more interesting. The first LP was safe and in all honesty 85% predictable. I think when you know you know and if there are any 5/10 reviews then they come with either preconceptions or an agenda. It warrants 7/10 plus

7/10 is good. The Wall, The Dark Side of the Moon, Sgt. Pepper, DM or WTSMG, Their greatest hits Eagles,, Led Zeppelin IV, Greatest Hits by Queen etc. are 10/10. So 7/10 should be right.
The problem is that a 7/10 by NME is not that great.

NME scores are irrelevant nobody even reads it anymore so they aren't going to influence people to buy or not buy the album.
Its not like they have influential staff that people care about, most of their journalism is ALT C and ALT V from forums or twitter

I think that's the first review that dismisses The Right Stuff, isn't it? Q were dismissive of TRS... both those websites have less than a 500 twitter followers between them, so basically small time blog type sites really (maybe more active hits than the NME tho )

I think that's the first review that dismisses The Right Stuff, isn't it? That's just it isn't it though. I rate TRS as a very strong track and I rate YKWCGB as the weakest track by a distance. Each to their own

“I’ve been singing like a flower in the fountain” Oh come on! That doesn't even make sense... Reminds me of the time I saw someone on a YouTube lyrics video claim that the chorus to 'Cloudburst' was "Now I can feel Loraaaaaaine!" I've mistook some lyrics pretty badly myself over the years, but there's a certain kind of lyric where even if you can't quite make it out, common sense should make it obvious

The Mexican named as a download. Will it be this album's HHL? Fans aren't crazy about it, but critics love it? Complete throw away. Maybe because I don't dig the lyric "like a kid on crack". Seems silly. I'm still curious what song it replaced on Chasing Yesterday. Noel said he swapped this one in at the last minute or so. Knowing that Freaky Teeth missed it's chance on HFB's then AA, my guess would be that. Though, Noel did have higher praise for Do the Damage.

Has the person who wrote that ever been caught wearing an Ocean Colour Scene t-shirt or impersonating Liam in front of the mirror? Seems like that type. The Right Stuff made exponentially worse by a saxophone... Seriously, the one thing I hate about being an Oasis fan is having to deal with such narrow-mindedness.
