Noel will never get critically acclaimed album, whatever he may release. You should've known that by now.
By critically acclaimed i mean a 5/5 album by the most reviewers.
Reviewers will never get past that he was in Oasis and the fact he is outspoken will never do him any favour in that part.

His first solo album was very well received & critically acclaimed, it didn't get 5/5 everywhere, but no album does. A lot of it depends if the artist gives the magazine an interview beforehand, like Empire & Total Film with movie premieres, no invite, 1 star.

Many artists get better reviews than that. It's just that in his age, not many artists get critically acclaimed albums. Bowie, Weller and McCartney only comes to my head right now.

Not so sure Weller & McCartney do nowadays either, and even a lot of reviews for Bowie's last album wasn't great. Not sure you'll ever get, or ever had a universally praised album, they'll always be people knocking it down. btw I wouldn't judge on a response of an album from Metacritic, they include all kinds of tosh. Noel first album as far as reviews I read was critically acclaimed from respected reviewers.

McCartney still gets critical acclaim? Baffling.

Not for albums now I cant imagine, the only press I see of McCartney is people hammering him for his vocals Live.

My guess is US RS stays with 3.5/5 like they did last time. I just don't see them giving him that extra half star for a 4/5. 3.5/5 is the safe bet. Pitchfork gave it a 5.7/10 last time. My guess is that increases, slightly. I think he gets 6.3/10 this time. Again, a safe, but good review.
Edit: I could see SPIN giving it 4/5 maybe 4.5/5. They've always been big Gallagher bros. supporters.

The Mexican named as a download. Will it be this album's HHL? Fans aren't crazy about it, but critics love it?

Seems silly. I'm still curious what song it replaced on Chasing Yesterday. Noel said he swapped this one in at the last minute or so.

tonethestone1 mentioned it above. I've trusted him until I see it myself. I am well happy with that. To rate any album 5/5 or 10/10 means it is exceptional, and on a ten track album if we basically equate it to one mark for each track that can be considered Great/good. There are not ten of those on here realistically but it's a bloody great effort that flows on my train journey seemlessly barring YKWCGB for my taste as I can tend to skip that one. Personal preference but the Mexican gets better for me on each listen.

I don't know how to put this in word without sounding rude but NME is literally a middle school music magazine. It used be better but any true music fan doesn't take anything they say seriously. Pitchfork may be snobby but they've actually gotten better with their elitist shit. The NME is the TMZ of music and the prop up really really fucking shitty British bands. I really can't take them seriously at all and neither should anyone here. They aren't even real music journalists. This isn't a reaction to their album review, more like cry for people to stop giving them clicks.
