I prefer this to Wonderwall and If I Had A Gun.
It's also a piece of piss to play on the guitar.

According to HMV Edinburgh, it's 2000 copies. Yeah, clearly above 2000 as HMV Livingston has numbers 2400(ish). Six copies left up there guys...

"The crazy but i m not in drugs or anything else Thought of the day"
when Noel starts to sing the chorus the first think to comes in my mind is the chorus of "In Bloom" by Nirnana!!! i played both tracks a few times together and its shocking (well with a few imagination and changing the speed)!!!
before you call me anything just try to sing/hear both songs!!!
still TDOTL is an amazing song that in the good old times could easily be a # 1 hit. i d love to release it as a single in every case

Still don't feel the need to play this song. Really, just like In the Heat of the Moment. I find it boring. Don't know why but I can enjoy the soundcheck version, but not this one.

I just put on Nirvana's 'Nevermind' because I can't remember the last time I listened to it. I get to 'In Bloom' and think the chorus sounds really similar to something else I've heard recently. It turns out it was The Dying Of The Light; the "I was told that the streets were paved with gold..." part.
Does anyone else think they sound similar?

I was really disappointed when I heard the album version. Don't misunderstand me, I really love the song itself. But the album version doesn't sound right to me. I would much more prefer that it was more similar to the acoustic version he did for RTÉ 2fm, which I think is truly amazing. The drum beat is way too loud and dominant in the song, and Noel's singing seems to follow that instead of the melody from the guitar. The lyrics are amazing though, some of the best Noel has done in a long time. The guitar solo is also pretty good. It's a good song the way he recorded it, but not as good as it could've been. Could've been the best song on the album and a classic, if done right.

If I didn't know Noel didn't pursue a higher education, I would be sure the lyrics to this song are about doing a PhD. I mean, for fuck's sake:
I keep on running but I can't get to the mountain behind lie the years that I mis-spent ...
Gonna try my best to get there But I can't afford the bus fare and the storm that's rolling over man, it makes me wanna cry
and I was told the streets were paved with gold and there'd be no time for getting old when we were young ...
Should I show the university counselor this post?

I wonder if they will play it full band or noel by himself live? Full band. This makes me happy. TDOTL is probably a top 4 song off the record for me, which is surprising because I thought the soundcheck version was stale. The production on it does so much for the song. It is kinda how I imagined IIHAG to be back in 2010. I get where people are coming from when they say they like the stripped back demo, but come on how many freaking Wonderwall rewrites do you want? Noel can do this acoustic dirge stuff in his sleep. This song is solid enough to be played stripped back, but Noel really fleshed out its potential with the light drums, piano, and understated lead guitar. This song is probably the biggest surprise on the album for me because I really did think based on the soundcheck version that we've had, that it was just another acoustic Noel song. I would hate if the album version was just him and the acoustic guitar, save that for the radio performances.

Very mellow, restrained and jazzy shuffle. A good thing!!!!!

I don't like Noel's vocals in this one. Sounds like he is struggeling to sing. Am I the only one?

It does sound like that in the first line, but I like his voice in the rest of the song. I just don't like the way he sings the first line. "KeeponrunningbutI caaan't get to the MOUNTAAIIN"

I'm admittedly preferring the demo version over the album version now. I prefer the rawer more organic sound.

Those drums and bass line are so annoying and repetitive! It makes WDIAGW demo sound like a masterpiece! Clearly this song wasn't worked on by AA.

I love the song and I think the production is pretty good, BUT to me it seems like it takes something away from the vocals I love Noel's acoustic version (both the RTE one and the one he did on the French tv show) because it's so heartfelt and his voice is full of emotion, I don't completely hear that on the album version

I judge DOTL by the bassline because it sticks out like a big lazy thumb, at least put it lower in the mix if you're not assed to come up with something decent.

The demo version is miles better than the album version. It's more "intense", something that the definitive version lack of.
