I burn my steak until nothing remains except dust and charcoal that I then snort off the Mustique demo disc.

I'm a bit confused. That remastered spotify link carlober sent me allows me to listen to 8 "remastered" tracks already. But I'm not sure if they're actually remastered and why only 8/12 are available to listen. Check out if the start of Magic Pie is attached to the ending of My Big Mouth. If it is, then you're listening to the remastered version. Both of them are actually unavailable. IHITIK and It's Gettin' Better (Man!!) also unavailable.

I don't want to scare anyone but I'm starting to like the "useless boring instrumental" quite a lot. It's so...relaxing Management: "Shit, Noel, we can't get the sample cleared for the Be Here Now demo. Do you have anything else we could use instead?" Noel: "Uh, there's this instrumental track. It's just me noodling quietly on an acoustic guitar - I found it at the end of a tape." Management: "You mean it sounds like completely the opposite of Be Here Now!? OK, we'll take it!"

My sister gave me a $50 gift card for Amazon for my birthday. So I'm going to buy it officially from Amazon, which means I have to wait a week. No bother, as I have the leak copy, but I want the official booklet god damn it. And Happy Birthday to me, yer twats. Why do you have to wait a week? Amazon is delivering mine today.

Anyone else feeling a complete lack of "Magic Pie" on this reissue? At least a studio demo, live radio performance, something.......... One version of the song is bad enough! magic pie is fucking great.

Really fucked off with this instrumental TI on disc 3. Got big brother issue of 3 disc release in Tower records Dublin today. Booklet gives run time as 4.48 but it's the 3.35 job. Doesn't seem to be any word anywhere as to what the story is...

I actually would be fine with another version. Like, was it ever a good song? I'd be interested in the evolution of how it became what it became. Personally, I listened to Magic Pie a few days ago and for the first time I didn't completely hate it.

If We Shadows > Untitled
(When I say 'Untitled', I mean the actual song called 'Untitled', not the instrumental that's actually untitled)

Doesn't seem to be any word anywhere as to what the story is... The Stones sample is the most obvious explaination right now. Piss poor performance when they've had 3 years to get it cleared. And it's so stonkingky obvious too. I listened to the demo in bed this morning and I've had Honky Tonk Women stuck in my head all day!

The only people who don't like Magic Pie are people who are so anal about lyrics and insist that they make literal sense. The tune is epic and psychedelic, and I love the guitar solo. The few live versions they did are class as well...I prefer the Earl's Court one.

Sure, the lyrical content is poor, but the bloated nature of the song and over-the-top production is what irks me most.

Got my box today aswell (Sweden)! (Still waiting for the vinyl, CD & CD Deluxe, though) Be Here Now is truly special. By far the best box set in the Chasing The Sun series. Love it!

If he'd called it Magpie rather than Magic Pie it would have been much better received, I'm sure

Yeah well of course I'm upset that Trip Inside is not there, even if I got it anyway. Just saying that yesterday I was really mad about it and thought the instrumental was shite and today I've already listened to it about 5 times!

Do you not like those either? I also don’t think it’s a good criticism for this song in particular...do you think Magic Pie would sound better if it was less spacey and more stripped back and acoustic? I certainly don’t think so. It would make it boring and less epic. A song like this primarily works because it’s big.

Anyone with the box set listen to the bonus vinyl yet? Is the Stand By Me (Demo) a new song we haven't heard yet?

My level of dislike for the other tracks on Be Here Now varies, but overall I love the album for what it is and what it meant to me at the time it was released in 1997. ----- As for Magic Pie... the song isn't that great starting out at its core, so you only add to the problems when you expand the track to what it is on Be Here Now. We can quibble over the lyrics, length, or production of the song, but it's not that great anyway you slice it. If you feel differently, then that's fine. But for me, it's easily the low point of the album.

Thankfully it's an opinion shared by Noel so we're not made to suffer multiple versions and him playing it live.
