I wish reviews would shut up about Noel and Liam fighting and focus on the music.

An 8.8 on Pitchfork is fantastic. Pretty fair review as well.

The Pitchfork score is good, but they don't discuss the music at all.

The Pitchfork score is good, but they don't discuss the music at all. That's sorta Pitchfork's thing. They give social commentary rather than talk about the music it seems.

But Pitchfork's been better about that lately, so I was hoping for more substance. Still, it's better than this classic pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/6656-kid-a/

Definitely Maybe is only a 10/10. any other verdict in my opinion makes the review a shit one.

Why are you reading the reviews for an album that's been out for 20 years?

Definitely Maybe is only a 10/10. any other verdict in my opinion makes the review a shit one. Completely agree. Anything other than a 10 or a five star score is really just invalid to me. DM is the definition of a landmark album and looking back 20 years later it is safe to say it is a classic album that is certainly one of the best albums of all time. Nice to see Pitchfork give it 8.8 and BNR because of their past Oasis reviews and commentary. It really would have said something about their ethos and culture if they didn't give it a high score. Reputation and respect would have diminished massively. Still, you can't get much better than Definitely Maybe, and even 20 years later with nostalgia growing, it seems that America still doesn't quite understand or fully "feel" what Oasis is and was, at least looking at some of the American reviews/scores. Still pitchfork nailed Oasis with this excerpt: "They were terrible at being The Biggest Band in the World, but as this 20th anniversary reissue of their first album makes sparklingly clear, they were amazing at wanting to be The Biggest Band in the World." Scores are unless but talking about music is always fun.

Does it hurts to give a straight 9.0 instead of 8.8?
If you guys liked this score, ok, but don't expect the same for MG and BHN, they think MG to be overrated and BHN to be shit.
Pitchfork is too partial to take them seriously.

Those blagging bastards. Stolen right from Consequence of Sound, which I posted above. But yes, good article overall.

Guys, here's my personal review of it - Basically, imo, it sounds great. There isn't anything earth-shatteringly different about the way it sounds, but it sounds like the equivalent of looking through a cleanly dusted window after the grime is wiped away Clearer, more open/airy sounding I haven't seen waveforms or anything, but it doesnt sound too brickwalled to me Currently, for the last few years, Ive been using a needledrop of the vinyl in preference to the general cd issue, but I think sounds as good, if not better, than the vinyl. Of course, vinyl is always best but this will be replacing that needledrop for me Also, thank fucking heavens they put all the bsides out. I can't stand it when reissues and things come out with bonus tracks and they don't include everything.
