If I've never seen this, then the odds are most others on here havent either.
Great video to have. And would have been a great addition to the DM dvd.
btw this is the type of thread which deserves more attention.
Instead, the girls on here spend their time in other threads.

Maybe like yours, buried deep somewhere lol

Many thanks for uploading this rare footage! I'd never seen it before either and was pleasantly surprised as I thought their budget didn't stretch to TV ads at the time (there are a few quotes from Tim Abbott saying they had to be lethal with their communications, or words to that effect, as they had only £60,000 to spend on marketing the album... If I recall rightly some of the ads were placed in football magazines and dance music magazines like Mixmag, as well as in the music weeklies and monthly mags like Q, Select etc).
If they're doing a 20th anniversary reissue of Definitely Maybe next year then this TV ad would be a really nice DVD / Blu-ray extra.
My (unrealistic) wish list for a deluxe reissue would be something along these lines... Disc 1: Live Demonstration and all the other pre-album demos in full quality Disc 2: DM - the Dave Batchelor sessions Disc 3: DM - the Sawmills Sessions (first mix) Disc 4: DM - the released mix by Owen Morris, remastered Disc 5: DVD or Blu-ray with all the footage on the 10th anniversary edition, with the longer edit of the documentary. Additional extras including the TV ad, alternate live performances such as Supersonic on Naked City.

Maybe this advert was funded by whoever distributed the album in Europe - watching it again the voiceover in particular does seem to be promoting the album to an audience outside the UK, off the back of the tour mentioned in the caption at the end. I note the MTV logo in the corner; maybe it was broadcast by MTV Europe? Thanks once again for posting this.

There were plenty of magazine adverts, which was a more common form of advertising back then.
I always liked the White DM full page advert.
