Thanks for that link. Here's the part that reveals their relationship: You ended up coming to an out of court settlement with them. How did that come about? Tony: We were working with ‘em for three months, as mates, and the next minute we can’t even get on the guest list for their gigs. I don’t really blame the lads, it’s just as other people, like management and publishers, got involved they got taken away from us. It was a shame we had to go down the legal route, but we just wanted recognition for all the hard work we’d put in. You wrote the lyrics to 'Columbia' with Liam, Chris? Chris: Yeah, that is the truth, but I don’t know how much I can say about it because I don’t know what the actual out of court settlement is and all that. Put it this way, ‘Columbia’ was an instrumental piece they came into the studio with and they went out with a full song. I came up with the melody and the verse words really, Liam wrote the chorus. Any others? Chris: I heard one of their B-sides a few months later (“Rocking Chair”) and it was more or less the same as our tune “Growlin Old”. T hey’d just lifted a few little chords, a few little words and a bit of the melody. There’s a few others that I just thought that’s a bit too out of order now. How do you feel now about the whole Oasis story? Tony: We feel really proud to have been involved in their story. It’d be easy to feel jealous of their success but we’ve got our own fish to fry. (I'm just watching the Time Flies DVD now and Noel mentioned the Realies and how funnily enough, they ended up suing him. Griffiths is credited on Rockin' Chair, backing vox on Supersonic, and that's it I think. Really deserved it for Don't Go Away!

Wasn't My Sister Lover (Lock All The Doors) named as such because of the band who played at King Tut's the night they met Mcgee were called The Sister Lover's?
Noel wrote the chorus around that.

Here's some more quotes on the making of Be Here Now...
Owen Morris: "The Mustique session was the last good recording I did with Noel. The arrangements were shorter than on the album, Noel was performing well and the vibe was positive. We were recording in a shack, drinking rum, smoking quality weed and, outside, Kate Moss was swimming naked in the pool...life doesn't get much better" (Owen Morris, Q Magazine 2007) Noel Gallagher: "The first part of Fade In-Out was recorded in a little fucking shack on the beach," Noel Says. The song - the bluesiest thing the band has ever done - features a special guest: Johnny Depp. "We were drunk one night [in the Caribbean], and I borrowed his slide guitar and tried to play this solo, and it was absolutely dreadful," Noel recalls. "So he sat down and played it and got it in one take. He's actually a really good guitar player." (from Rolling Stone) Alan McGee: "[In May 1996] Noel played us the demos to Be Here Now and I remember thinking, this is gonna sell about half the amount of copies as Morning Glory. It’s a really intense record. No obvious hit singles like the other record. But at the end of the day, who was gonna put their hand up and say, ‘Noel, I think you should maybe shorten most of the songs and not repeat “It’s getting better man” 47 times.’ Because, to be honest, number one, he hadn’t been wrong yet. He’d been right. Everything the kid had ever fucking said was right. Number two, even if you were right which basically we all were in our heads, I don’t think anybody in that room thought differently to me, which was, this is a guy who has just sold 14 million records and just collected a 15 million pound publishing cheque. Is he actually going to listen to the bosses in the record company? Was he fuck. So he’d just come back from holiday with Johnny Depp and Kate Moss. He’d sold 15 million records. He’d just banked 15 million pounds. He was living in another dimension by that point." (quoted in Paolo Hewitt's book on Creation Records, This Ecstasy Romance Cannot Last)

Hmmm I know Noel once said Columbia was going to be an instrumental that is true. Also I believe it was said Liam did write the lyrics to Columbia but it was just the "yeah yeah yeahs". Remember Noel saying this in an interview somewhere, can't remember where. As for the Mustique tape: Angel Child (Confirmed as we have the actual recording) My Sister Lover (Can someone confirm this ?) Stay Young (Confirmed by Noel) Fade In-Out (Confirmed as the beginning of the track on the Album actually uses a part from the Mustique Tape) D'You Know What I Mean (Confirmed on Monobrows page) My Big Mouth (Confirmed on Monobrows page) It's Gettin Better Man (Confirmed in Alan McGee Interview a few posts above) According to Mr Monobrows page, there was 15 tracks on the cassette: www.mrmonobrow.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/behere.htmAnyone know any more ?

I don't think a tracklisting for the demo tape has surfaced but Nick Brine recalls on my site that the unreleased song Slow was likely on there, as he remembers that tune. He also mentions using the demos to gauge the setup for the studio recording sessions. Seems fair to assume that most of the album tracks were on there, plus the b-sides you mentioned. I remember Noel referring to a demo of I Hope, I Think, I Know in Q magazine, saying he preferred it to the finished version. I remember from another article that the demos were recorded on a digital 8-track setup, and with the aid of a drum machine.

Mustique Tape... aka the Holy Grail of Oasis world.
I'm starting to think that it'll never surface...

Mustique Tape... aka the Holy Grail of Oasis world. I'm starting to think that it'll never surface... Oh it will. It will! Obviously Noel has them and when an Oasis anthology style release comes about in the next 10 years, I bet a lot of material from those tapes appear.

Hopefully the unreleased song 'Slow' is on the Mustique demo.

Of course people were sipping a few drinks but there was no anti social behaviour that became the norm post BHN.

The hype surrounding the band and the music at that moment in time is indescribable to those unfortunate enough who were either too young or just missed out on the journey. It was the best era of my life to date thats for sure
