Not a fact but more in hope really.
We've heard how there wasnt really any demos done for the album, but Noel loves doing demos? Always says he has all the songs in his head, but seriously? All of them?
So maybe there IS a chance that Noel did a tape?

You must know what that would mean lol Yeah, i figured it all, but, y'know, kinda thought noel might me more subtle or clever than that. As a result, it makes me laugh that such a crude [and druggy] song is SO popular!

I'd like to see a similar thread on Be Here Now. Anyone got more info on the songs on that album?

Not new info here but thought I'd add a link to the theme for You and Me, a children's TV programme broadcast by the BBC from 1974, which famously inspired the lyrics to She's Electric...
Drifting off-topic, but whilst I'm on YouTube... here's the Trebor Softmints advert (featuring Cockney Rebel's song Mr Soft) which, of course, is referenced in Shakermaker ("I've been driving in my car/With my friend Mr Soft"). This was seen on UK TV from 1987 - 1994.

So no one knows anything about Round Are Way? It was played quite a bit during the MG days,I'm sure some of the band have had something to say about it.
Why it was excluded from the Masterplan? (I wasnt on the internet when the tracklisting was picked, otherwise I'd have definitely voted for it!) Royalty issues?

Anyone know what song it's from?

Round Are Way and The Masterplan were both recorded in the first week of September 1995 at Maison Rouge Studios in Fulham, with the assistance of a full brass band and orchestra. (Cited from: www.45cat.com/record/cre215 ) Paolo Hewitt recounts in the opening chapter of his 1997 book Getting High:The Adventures of Oasis that both tracks were mixed there on Friday 8th September 1995 and that there was an argument between Noel and Liam over how the lead vocal sounded on Round Are Way (Liam is quoted as having said to Noel that ‘You can’t fucking hear me properly. It’s a top song… and you’ve fucked it right up’). The atmosphere improved after they listened to a playback of Owen Morris’s mix of The Masterplan, with Liam saying to Noel that it was ‘as good as any Beatles song…You don’t know how fucking good you are.’ Noel is also quoted as having described Round Are Way as 'the Oasis tribute to Northern Soul'. Later on in the book Hewitt mentions that Noel wishes he'd phased the drums on Wonderwall in tribute to Kenny Jones's on The Small Faces' Itchycoo Park (an effect he eventually used on Round Are Way). I recall seeing a more recent interview where Noel says he now thinks Round Are Way is appalling, so depending on when he came to that opinion of the track, maybe that's why it wasn't on the Masterplan album... I like it a lot though!

On a side note, Round Are Way it's Morrissey's favourite Oasis song.

Best thread ever.
I''ve been told Liam confirmed that boner reference of MG in an interview which was televised but I can't find it. Any chance of knowing more?

I wish we had more than a 33 sec clip, but its better than nothing!
Its not actually a demo thomasbernades but we're not sure exactly where it's from. Many, including myself, think its from backstage Glastonbury 95 but it may also be from an unknown radio station.

It's backstage at Glastonbury, broadcast on either Channel 4 (UK) or BBC Radio 1.

I'm not sure if it's this same version or not, but I remember an MTV interview in 1995 where Noel played "Roll With It"acoustically(at least,an excerpt was broadcasted). If I'm not wrong, was the interview in a park where he was wearing the blue tshirt with "Quoasis" on it.
Anyone remember?

Best thread ever. I''ve been told Liam confirmed that boner reference of MG in an interview which was televised but I can't find it. Any chance of knowing more? I'm sure I've heard Noel talk about it in an interview and it was simply that one of his mates came round his house one day and said 'What's the story, morning glory?' to him and he thought it sounded cool so decided to use it as he was stuggling to find the words for the chorus. Any boner references are coincidental. I wish I could remember what interview it was in, I think it was from when they released the greatest hits.

Yeah, I read that somewhere, someone phoned him when he was asleep, and when he woke up and picked up the phone, they said "what's the story, morning glory?" to him.

Nice find! Yes, I think this makes sense - it fits the pattern of some of the other songs having titles that describe the main influence ("Rex/Beatles", "Joy Division One", "Sunflowery One", "Hendrix One") rather than the final titles, so he could've been about to write "Glitter One". Also, this has come up before, but it seems that Noel reused some of the lyrics or phrases from his notebook when he wrote the lyrics for Supersonic ("My Friend Said", "Helicopter Doctor", "Alkerseltzer") during the December 1993 recording session at the Pink Museum studio in Liverpool. Would be fascinating to see the full lyrics for those songs! Also, I hope that somewhere there's a demo of the song Rodney... got to be a touch of Only Fools and Horses influence there, I like to think...
