(this may be the first topic to include 2 sets of quotation marks)
I was watching the movie Fever Pitch (based on the Nick Hornby book), its about a guy obsessed with the Arsenal football team (even though they apparently never win and aren't very popular) throughout his life and his past and current romantic interests never quite understand his passion. The American remake with Jimmy Fallon switched it to Red Socks baseball.
I have to say, I really related to it - just switch a perpetually down and out sports team for a rocknroll "has been" band that always gets slated (particularly over here) for never living up to past glories.
The girlfriend's comment "its like you live in a gift shop" was somewhat pertinent.
What about all of you? Do your partners get your interest in Oasis? Are they fans too? Or do they just tolerate your strange interests?
ps- let's define "obsession" as posting regularly on a website like this, collecting rarities, travelling away to catch gigs, etc. Nothing borderline criminal - just for clarification. I don't mean stalking the band.

Then the wembley escapade sealed my fate in my next relationship ,, I was told go at your own peril , I went , relationship over, but I wouldn't trade it for her at All ..true story she told me its over if I go I seen them enough , I countered come ill buy she couldn't get time off , I could , I went case closed ....relationship over But now to quote mr Springsteen I have " better days ".

She's just listened to BE 3 times on the spin. Although she's now fallen asleep on a drunken haze
But no. She knows its part of the package. I love her and our kids, and after that I love the Gallaghers and my football team and that's just the way it is
Top woman

I know what you mean. She'll never really understand my passion for all things Oasis, not really. We didn't know each other in the 90's. I'm married now but I told the misses from the off when we started dating that the gallaghers come 1st! She has slowly got the message as I have been consistent over the years. She likes NGHFB & we have seen them together twice but she has never seen Liam or Oasis live. Although she likes a few tunes she has other "tastes" She's converted now though (No choice!)& is happily coming with me to see BE @ the ABC in Glasgow. We both LOVE the Beatles & that's the main thing.

I'm slowly converting the girlfriend to Oasis/NGHFB/Beady Eye. When we first started going out she didn't like them at all (although mainly just because she thought they were knobs, she got a major lecture for that haha) She did enjoy Noel at TITP last year, and Slide Away is one of her favourite songs after being brainwashed by me listening to it all the time. We'll get there eventually, just need to ween her off the X Factor now

There's the big problem with me and my girlfriend. Overlap in musical taste is near non-existent. I mean, with the summer coming up that gives me more time to maybe convince her otherwise, as well as being able to drive giving my music time to be played to her when she can't opt out On the other hand, when she sees the framed signed BE LP print in my room, that may well 'be' the nail in the coffin..

I was actually dumped recently so liam and the boys have been helping me through it as they always have in hard times
But yeah my family and friends all know about my obsession with anything and everything gallagher related

All of my ex's have hated them and BE/NGHFB. It was always the same complainants, too slow sounding, outros go on forever and none of them like Liams voice. I gave up trying to convince them, apparently Oasis just can't compete with such greats as You Me At Six and fucking Paramore
None of my friends like them either, in fact I don't think i know anyone who does! No wonder they've never bothered doing gigs in Norfolk xD

My better half (or as kalas said "worst half" ) loves music and he knows a lot about music. He's seen so many bands and he has tons of LP's which he's collected since when he was a teenager. We both are music lovers, but our tastes are different. I respect his tastes and he respects my taste. He knows how much I love certain bands and how I love to go to gigs. He isn't an Oasis fan at all, but when I watched "Familiar To Millions" DVD years ago, he suddenly said "I hear a big Neil Young influence in his guitar work" (Champagne Supernova) and it gave me a smile on my face.

He does understand why I love Gallaghers and he's even been to Man City Stadium with me once. But take him to their gigs? No way.

mkoasis did you see the UK movie it pisses on the American version Almost made me root for he gooners Good flick Edit ; judging by the post I didn't know if you read the book but caught the American version of he movie , apologies if I misread I'd read the book years ago, and was referring to the American version of the film that I saw. I didn't know there was a British one till you mentioned it, so I'll have to check it out. I don't live with my partner and we dont see each other all the time (fine really, its a temporary thing). She really doesnt know anythign about Oasis other than they are British and Wonderwall was their big song. I don't try to 'convert' her - I find if you push things on people, it just makes them want to hate it. So I quietly, contently indulge in my Oasis "man cave". But I have to say - even if she doesnt like them or appreciate them, I feel she should at least know the basics about them, especially if its something thats clearly very important to me - I mean take an interest, please! She doesnt need to know Acquiesce from All Around the World or Whatever from Where Did it all Go Wrong but you know, the basics. I should prepare a page of notes on Oasis' history for the future. /rant over. thanks for listening.

Arghhh i've actually argued till 3am with my girlfriend about Oasis and everything Gallagher related. She has always liked Oasis which is a good thing and has listened to all albums Oasis and post oasis. Its just that she's not as passionate, like nowhere near passionate enough about them during new release time. Gets on my nerves as im checking here everyday and she'd rather have a life Oh well at least she likes them and has seen Noel live with me. I love a lot of bands none more so than the Beatles but i just have some crazy obsession with the Gallaghers where i wanna know everything. Its frightening but i guess only you guys can understand

I've posted it somewhere on here before in a long drawn out manner about how Oasis have been with me throughout my life, but for the purposes of this thread, here goes....
The first time my now wife and I ever really spoke about getting together was after she caught a talent show thing that I played in with my brothers band. One of their guitarist couldn't make it, so I filled in and we played Live Forever, All I Do (an original.), and Stand By Me (Lennon version). She had never heard of Oasis before but learned quickly that I was a major fan. She grew up into country music mostly, and still is into all that to this day. We got engaged in March right before 'Don't Believe The Truth' came out in May. Know ing my love for the band, she went out day of release and bought the album so that she could hear for herself what I was into and try to get a feel for something that clearly meant a lot to me. To my surprise, she showed up at the house later that day and said that she really liked the record. Obviously up to that point she had heard many of their tunes via me, but the excitement of a new release I think she found odd, so she tried it out for herself.
She will never truly get my obsession with the band and its various post-groups, but she does get into the music enough to not get annoyed that I spin it a lot. We caught Noel's gig here in Dallas last November and she loved every minute of it. She had never been to a rock show before, other than my brothers band playing at some local bar. The last time Oasis passed through Texas, in March of 2006, I was lucky enough to score two tickets via eBay for the show, but knowing my brother would have given his testicles to go, she said he should go with me to the show in Houston. Then, of course, Oasis split before she ever got to see them live. But I think she'd dig it if we ever got the opportunity to see them someday.
So basically, she gets it as much as anyone can I suppose without being as obsessed as we are on the forum.
note: [all my previous girlfriends could get into most of the tunes just fine, it was never a point of argument with them either.]

My beloved is a Whole Lot Country and I'm a Whole Lot Rock-n-Roll, and after 30 years, it seems that never the twain shall meet. I go with him to country music concerts. He escorts me to the door of the rock concert, then goes back to our nearby hotel room and naps until he sees the drunken fans start stumbling out of the arena--whereupon he goes to the door to walk me back to the hotel. He will never be a rocker, but he is a gentleman about it. He did attend a ZZ Top gig with me, started his "You're too old for rock-n-roll" lecture, then noticed that everyone in the audience looked like Dusty or Billy. I tell him that rock is to today's kids like polka music was to us--it's all rap and 'divas' now. He doesn't understand that I love Noel like my own son and Liam like my own grandson, but at least he kindly endures it.

As I sit here writing on this thread on an Oasis board, whilst watching Oasis videos on youtube, whilst listening to Oasis on the ipod, and drinking my coffee from my Oasis mug . . . My wife does struggle to comprehend my obsession.
