When asked by NME why he came to the awards, he replied: “Because clowns like One Direction aren’t invited, so it must be a good one.”

Yea, I guess there are few good ones. Don't know what Live Forever or Don't Look Back In Anger gets, but I'm sure it amounts to a small token

video interview with Noel on this link:www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-22561710And an article on his award: uk.tv.yahoo.com/gallagher-ill-never-co-write-162404696.htmlGallagher: I'll never co-write Press Association – 1 hour 31 minutes ago Noel Gallagher joked his Ivor Novello award helped prove he was a songwriter
Noel Gallagher has said he would never "stoop" to co-write a song with another artist.
The former Oasis star and High Flying Birds frontman - who was awarded an Ivor Novello award recognising his outstanding song collection - admitted he didn't always find songwriting easy.
Noel said: "It can be frustrating. I start a lot of songs and finish just about enough to make an album every now and again. So it can be frustrating. The words for me are frustrating.
"But I don't think I'd ever stoop to being that much of a scoundrel to be a co-writer with anyone. I hate that. They should write their own songs."
Noel was given a standing ovation as he accepted his award and thanked "everyone who has ever played on one of my songs".
And dedicating the award award to his wife Sarah, he described a recent conversation they had in which he said he wanted to turn the garage of their new home into a "creative space" to write songs.
"And she said to me 'I've never seen you writing songs'."
Holding the trophy he said: "If any more proof were needed."
He accepted the award from Kinks star Ray Davies, who joked: "I don't know why I'm here. I haven't done anything to help this man's career at all."

Another funny quote from Noel in a different NME article: www.nme.com/news/noel-gallagher/70341Gallagher collected the award for Outstanding Song Collection, which was presented to him by Kinks singer Ray Davies, and thanked "my publishers, who I've only just met after 20 years – Sony, apparently," to guffaws of laughter from the industry audience. He dedicated the award to his wife, who, he said, once told him she'd never seen him write any songs. "This is proof that I do," he said. "Britains Got Talent is worse. Imagine if you had a dog and taught it to juggle? What kind of fucking life is that for a dog?" lol Good for Noel. Nice honour to have. Noel always seems to know how to end an interview with a good quote! This honour is especially great, I think, because it comes from fellow songwriters and people in the industry: www.theivors.com/ivors.htmThe Ivors celebrate, honour and reward excellence in songwriting and composing.
They are presented by BASCA and judged by the writing community.

The Ivors also honour individuals with awards recognising their contribution to British Music.
These awards are in the gift of BASCA's Ivor Novello Awards Committee. www.theivors.com/basca.htmAnd look at the people in BASCA! Thoroughly deserving of the award is Noel. A bottomless pit of great tunes (with some absolute shockers), with High Flying Birds greatly contributing to it.
He said he would have preferred 'Outstanding Record Collection' - let's not get ahead of ourselves Noel, High Flying Birds is the first good album from anthing Oasis related since the late 1990s! Just keep writing albums in their entirety from now on and I'm sure it will drown out all the dodgy records before High Flying Birds.

I think he meant his own record collection not the collection of records he has released. Because right after that he suggests he'd like an award for best shoe collection and obviously he isn't referring to the shoes he has released.

"Noel was given a standing ovation as he accepted his award and thanked "everyone who has ever played on one of my songs".
Little dig at Liam there that not many will notice. Clever. Certainly more subtle that Liam's credit list at the Brits a few years back for that Morning Glory award.
