Liam Gallagher: 'Noel and Damon Albarn killed Britpop' Beady Eye frontman claims the movement ended in March when his brother shared a stage with the Blur singer Liam Gallagher has claimed that Britpop died earlier this year when his brother Noel was pictured hugging Damon Albarn of Blur. Speaking to NME in this week's Britpop-themed issue, available on newsstands now and also available digitally, Liam brands his brother "full of shit" and hits out at Noel for being spotted with Albarn and performing with him at the Teenage Cancer Trust gig in London. "What killed Britpop? The fucking fakest cuddle in my entire life, that's what fucking killed Britpop," says Liam. "Noel and Damon Albarn killed Britpop. Why? Because they thought they invented it, that's why. And when? You know when, ha ha." Elaborating further, Liam adds: "I'm into the Teenage Cancer Trust, but that was bollocks. If you think that was genuine you must be living on the fucking moon. Why do I know that? Because I know my brother. That's how I feel. He's full of shit. I think Damon's alright. Graham Coxon sees right through it, but you know our kid. It'll be Robbie Williams next week." Noel Gallagher performed live with Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon at London's Royal Albert Hall in March of this year, putting two decades of Britpop animosity behind them when they played Blur's hit single 'Tender' together. oh c'mon...stop talking about Noel Tis his best way for getting publicity for the new album. As if Britpop survived past 1997 to be fair.

Liam Gallagher killed britpop by obliterating the voice of britpop.

He said he thinks Damon is 'alright'. So it's ok for him to hang around with Damon but not Noel And don't say Liam thinks Damon's alright because he never did before.

So it's ok for him to hang around with Damon but not Noel And don't say Liam thinks Damon's alright because he never did before. Liam didn't say it wasn't alright for Noel to hang out with Damon, he was saying that this newfound "friendship" is a load of rubbish ("I know my brother"), he obviously thinks it's put on for publicity or something and he obviously thinks that Graham Coxon shares his view... In Tony McCaroll's book, they all met blur in 1994 and Tony said that Liam respected his music a lot I think... The only person who's said anything about Damon Albarn recently is Noel on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross in 2004, I don't think Liam's ever attacked Albarn since the whole britpop thing.

I just think it's weird to not question Damon nor Graham's motives, but only question Noel's. It just comes off as bitter. And I don't know if that can be argued.
So no Noel is enough of a master mind to make sure he'd meet Damon on a certain night, make up with him, has a laugh with Damon at the Brits, put Graham on his bill for touring, then make sure War Child invites both him and Damon to the Brits, calls up Blur to perform at TCT, which they turn down, but lucky him, Graham and Damon want to perform with Noel. All this over the course of over a year and a half. My that Noel is dastardly fellow.
In the end, would love to hear Liam talk more about the music. We haven't heard much in the way of that.

Blur's first few albums are quite rubbish imo, love their more mature work though.
Think Tank is the bees knees tbh.

Not to mention it was all to promote absolutely nothing of his own. Just to give a special night to the people that supported the TCT. Why so bitter. Unlike Liam's unrelenting vitriol that rears it's head every time he has an album out. Wish Liam would just grow up and stop relying on negative comments about Noel to get him headlines. It's all the wrong kind of attention...only reinforces the masses opinion that Noel was right to leave Liam if this is how he acts wherever things aren't going his way. Noel did something great in curating the concerts. He came away smelling like roses after his duet with Damon. Britpop finally grows up and all that. Somehow Liam has managed to turn good press for Noel into press making himself seem like a bitter ex-wife Obviously he still thrives on an all press is good press philosophy.

A journo most likely asked him a question, he answered it and then the NME promote that comment. Funny how a lot of people here are under the impression that they they know his brother better than he does.

I'm looking forward to the eventual Liam and Robbie Williams collaboration. After all they did have the same woman.

Liam and Noel have been having a pop at each other for years through the press, and that was when they were in a band together! Ask Liam a question and he'll either go on a mad rant or go the other away and say it's the best thing since sliced cheese. It's for his own amusement.

Some of you take things way to seriously, it's cringeworthy.
