Sorry if this has been discussed already... Just delete the thread if it has.
I just listened to this song properly for the first time and could help but notice the lyrics. Is this the track that Liam didn't record vocals for on Dig Out Your Soul, (Come On) Its Alright. I'm sure thats what it was called. If it is then that album really was a wasted opportunity with the exclusion of this song and Record Machine. Those songs might have made me listen past Falling down.
Cheers Rob

Yeah, hopefully this won't spark the inevitable debate. Still a good song. I enjoy it quite a bit. Hope he records it for the next record.

Come On Outside is a cracking tune but I don't think it'll be on the next record. Noel recorded it in 2010, if he intended to put it out he would've included it in the High Flying Birds album. Sadly I think Noel has either passed it over or forgotten about it.

So which tracks would they have left off from DOYS to meet the quota system had RM and this one made it in?
GOYHHL and WFTR?
Not sure if that makes it much of a better album, it'd still have 4-5 really shite songs.

If Record Machine and Come On Outside were on Dig Out Your Soul, the natural casualties would have been The Nature of Reality and Ain't Got Nothing. I would also swap out High Horse for Boy With The Blues. Waiting For The Rapture is an ace tune. Both versions.

Team Cow I remember that thread, best debate this forum ever saw! That album cover always reminds me of the great Val Kilmer film "Top Secret". Cult Classic.

Sadly I think Noel has either passed it over or forgotten about it. Jeff Slate, a board member that interviewed Noel, said Noel mentioned that he had songs chosen for the next album and Come On Outside was on that list. So it was still planned for release as of late 2011 He was reliable. Never have us the interview recordings that he promised but other than that no reason to doubt him. I'm pretty sure he was the guy that told us that Come On It's Alright was the same as Come On Outside. I'd hardly discount it as passed over forever after 1 album considering the long journeys of RM and STC to a record.

Jeff Slate did inform us all on the status of "Come On It's Alright" in August of 2011. He was really delivering some great inside news back then. I too was looking forward to the audio recording of his interview. I remember him saying they were 40 minutes long. Freaky Teeth is just as old as Come On Outside. I have a feeling we will hear studio recording of both down the road.

I remember reading an interview that said Noel replaced Come On, It's Alright and Record Machine by High Horse and Ain't Got Nothing on Dig Out Your Soul because Liam fucked off and got married before he recorded the vocals. I wonder why he changed the name of the tune though. I'm certain it's the same song given the choir (he wouldn't hire a choir for a demo) and obviously because the lyrics go "Come on, it's alright"

If I remember correctly, Noel said he needed to work on the lyrics before releasing it - I bet that's another reason it was left off DOYS. The "real" reason, even. Record Machine may have just been a casualty.

Not really a big fan of Come On Outside. It's far repetitive for me. Once you've heard the first minute you've heard the whole song. Could be good with a little bit of variation. Also not a big fan of choir on it, not everyone song has to have a freakin choir on it to make it sound big. Would like to see him expand his pallet with this song. The greatness of this song imo depends on whether he could write a bit more variation into it and what producer he gets.

Yes, I remember that too, Noel told that High Horse & AGN were earmarked as B-sides. I think it was an interview for NME, the issue with the promo CD-R for DOYS.

A little less precise but I recall Edith bowman talking about DOYS and she said non of the leaked songs were on it, she specifically mentioned AGN.
(Also as we kmow in gold and silver Gem says he's happy with TBWTL is number 9 so guess things were swapped around very late in the day)

Would explain the lack of b sides for tr singles as well

Am I right in remembering that they sat on the album for about 6 months before releasing it? I found it really strange at the time that even if Liam went off to get married, they still couldn't find time to put a vocal on. I think Noel just threw his toys out the pram. There's no way that High Horse should have graced an Oasis album, what the fuck were they thinking?

I definitely agree! High Horse is subpar material. Ain't Got Nothin' is on the same level as Eyeball Tickler to me so definitely b-side material.
Would have been great to hear Liam on Come On It's Alright or Outside whatever. Record Machine, not so much (I'm not very fond of the song)

The thought of Liam singing the bridge at the end of Record Machine tantalises me more than anything other than the thought of him singing DLBIA. Would be so good.

"You can't give me a reason I don't need one to shine, you can't give me the feeling 'cos they're already mine, 'cos I'm one in a million and if the sun don't rise on my soul, then I'll blow" Written for Liam isn't it?
