Been listening to his new album and the Smiths albums (debut and Hatful of Hollow) a lot these past few days. We all know its impossible to figure out exactly what he's playing (I still cant figure out how to get 'Some Girls Are Bigger than Others' to sound right!) but how does he get that guitar sound? Light distortion, treble, special effects? Any insight would be appreciated.

When I listen to the intro of Bigmouth Strikes Again, the sound is AMAZING...

When I listen to the intro of Bigmouth Strikes Again, the sound is AMAZING... he did it all with a telecaster as opposed to the rickenbacker. most people thought thats how they got their sound but it was all multi-layered tracks. fun fact one of the guitar tracks has him dropping a knife on the guitar.
