When do you think artists create their best work?

When they find the right section in forums to post their new threads. to answer the question, i'd think it depends on the artist. many artists and bands come out with their best stuff in their 20s and 30s. that doesn't mean that they can't do anything past that, though. paul simon did "graceland," which i consider his masterpiece, when he was 45. leonard cohen and bob dylan are still writing phenomenal stuff in their 70s. that makes me ask, what constitutes a musician's artistic peak, and who decides it? additionally, can artists have multiple peaks?
