if you consider that everyone already knew exactly what was going to happen, and the characters and story were already so screwed up from the first two, I thought the 3rd was actually pretty fucking good Revenge of the Sith featured lines like this: "Hold me, like you did by the lake on Naboo; so long ago when there was nothing but our love. No politics, no plotting, no war." - PadmeI consider Sith the best of the prequels but that really isn't saying too much. Lucas has been in a rut since after Willow came out. A very underrated film. Reading that actually made me laugh out loud I always skipped the Padme scenes because Lucas has absolutely no idea how to write a romantic story... which is a shame because Natalie Portman is an amazing actress.

Vader screaming out Noooooooooooo at the end of ROTS, was cringe worthy. Lucas turned one of the best ever villans into a fucking pussy.

Vader screaming out Noooooooooooo at the end of ROTS, was cringe worthy. Lucas turned one of the best ever villans into a fucking pussy. Soooo true. Did we really need a Darth Vader origin story? The franchise went from a story about Luke to a story about Anakin/Vader. Who cares! They did the same thing with Boba Fett. I didn't want to see a child Boba or his father Jango. That ruined the mystique of the character. I thought Jango was the "deadliest bounty hunter" in the galaxy? Well his Stormtrooper clones can't even hit a target and Teddy Ruxpins beat them up too easily. Boba deserved a better, more elusive backstory.

I'd love if Joss Whedon were connected.
I think having George removed from the franchise may be a good thing. I'd actually be less hopeful about the sequel prospects if he were still involved.

Lucas is still writing (already has written) the story treatments for 7,8 and 9 and Disney have confirmed they're going with these. Someone else will write the scripts but it'll still be George's story. Anyone who has a problem with that should either
a) just forget about it and enjoy the best quality unaltered original trilogy they can (its not that hard to find)
OR
b) lower their expectations.
Personally I don't have a problem with him writing the initial story but a lot of people will.

I dont have a problem with lucas writing the story at all. As long as some talented writers are hired to adapt the screenplay. There are so many good directors for the job but disney being disney they will probably hire the the director of the pirates movies. I would love if whedon did it buf the marvel universe needs him.
I have decided i am looking forward to it and will take it for what it is. Another chapter in the star wars saga. It can't be any worse then the prequels right?

Lucas had a beautiful working relationship with screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan in the early 1980s. Kasdan did the screenplays for Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Return of The Jedi. It was a shame he turned down writing the prequels. Maybe he will be asked to return by Disney for episodes 7, 8 and 9.

Latest News: Looks like Mathew Vaughn (X-Men First Class) is set to direct Episode 7. Harrison Ford has also shown interest in returning as Han Solo, he just needs to read a script first. WOW!!!!! this is awesome news, i am officially pumped for this movie. www.imdb.com/news/ni40049849/

The world has been waiting to see what Han Solo is like at 70. Exciting!!
Fuck me.
Whatever they're going to do, it'll be a crazy push to release in summer 2015.

Sorta like Lucas did with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (wow what a shit title). The next issue with adding an old Han Solo is do you bring back Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill? Two actors I don't think still look camera ready anymore. I hate to say that but it is true.

The magic of CGI will come to the rescue.
I would hope that Han would just be a cameo.

If any of the original cast will be back it'll me Hamill. I think Solo is the least likely to return (mainly because Ford has been negative about Star Wars for years and unlike Luke and Leia he isn't a Skywalker so is least likely to fit in with a new story).

imagine luke, leia and han solo in a new star wars movie. that would be just like putting marilyn monroe on the playboy-cover in her current situation... do we really need more se- or prequels?
i guess this major cash cow needs to be fleeced til nobody remembers the good old movies from the 70s/80s

Han Solo is (sorta) the guy who made the original trilogy so great, I could see him coming back - if only for a cameo - over Luke and Leia. After all, who dresses up as Luke Skywalker for Halloween?

Han and Leia ended up together...so he makes as much sense as she in a storytelling sense. But it would ruinous to show her in he current state. She is not the Leia from Star Wars anymore. Luke is the most obvious definitely though. I'd almost be weird to not have him cameo unless they made the sequel after his character had died.

It's a big galaxy...I'd love for a storyline that didn't have to include so many character from the first 6 episodes. Can't we meet new faces, new enemies and new planets? Also, please stop with over the top CGI for everything. You can cast people to play stormtroopers and what not. In Disney we trust!

i am all for the 3 original cast members returning, but maybe only for supporting roles. I have read that Lucas's treatment is a new story so we can scrap the EU stories which is a shame, i would of loved to see the Thrawn Trilogy been adapted into films.

George Lucas has been screwing up big time for ages now - he has a habit of pissing all over great franchises. I didn't mind Indiana Jones 4, but it was his smart idea to get that hellishly annoying Shia Le Bouef as Indy's son. And Hayden Christensen in the Star Wars prequel? Don't get me started. Maybe if he's got a less hands on role the next Star Wars films will be much better than the prequel (although I agree that Revenge of the Sith, while not great, is a very good film).
And there's news that Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill are interested. This would give the film great credibility. It would be nice to see some of the original cast back.

Some good Star Wars news:
Deadline reports that Disney and Lucasfilm have approached Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg to start work on the subsequent installments that were mapped out by George Lucas.
Kasdan worked on the scripts for two of the original "Star Wars" films, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and wrote Raiders of the Lost Ark. Kinberg's credits include X-Men: First Class, Sherlock Holmes and the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Bringing Kasdan back is an excellent idea! He played a major part in Lucas' success.

All I can say is why Star Wars trilogy was awesome stood on every freaking line for first 3 that was Star Wars....the last 3 sucked compared to them and another one can only drag the franchise quality lower in my opinion ...let it be,,create another movie man let the franchise be remembered for 3 great pics not 4 shit sequels prequels whatever the fuck they are. Just like Coppola fucked up the godfather with godfather 3 you can't replace stories and quality by just naming it Star Wars or godfather ,,if it was that easykets just get 5 lads from Manchester together and say OASIS are back!!!!!! Not for me man

Lucas lost me when we saw Anakin as a child. Annie as a nickname?!?!? Awful. That ruined so much. Mystique is valuable. He also ruined Boba Fett. I didn't want him to be a lame ass clone. I'd prefer not to know anything more about him.
On a sidenote: Seeing Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor as Jedi Knights was cool

So...what does everyone think of JJ Abrams getting the director role? He's as good a choice as any tbh. Pretty good at dealing with Sci-fi and a safe pair of hands for the next set of films.
