I agree. Oasis get so much praise for writing anthems and euphoric sing-alongs that the idea of them doing dark or sad songs seems ridiculous. But then, they do it and turn out to be amazing at that too: Gas Panic, WDIAGW, LAMB, SMC, Roll It Over is all you need to prove the point.

Take out ICSAL and PYMWYMI from SOTSOG and put LAMB and Full On with Liam singing, also change some lyrics from LJ and it would have been a great Oasis album. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. It was nearly 13 years ago, time to move on and stop having the same debate over and over again.

Where did the time go? The anticipation and wait for that record was unbearable for me. I wanted to hear the "mark II" Oasis badly.

Since Noel wrote so many slow/down tempo songs in this period it seems like he needed some more rocking songs to fill out the album. The song sounds unfinished by Noel standards. I'm not even sure if it has a proper chorus. Then again it's just a Doors rip off.

Didn't Noel mention he had a meeting a couple months ago regarding the release of possible BBC recordings? Sorta like the Led Zeppelin and Who appearances? I hope something like that materializes.

This thread made me go back to this song. Having listened to it again, I may despise it a little less. If I listen to it just once and not along with the whole album, surely it's listenable (but nothing more). But it's on SOTSOG, this song just ruin the vibe of the album completely for me. SOTSOG needed lots of things except rockers. If it's meant to be a 'sad' album, let it be. I always preferred Oasis to write about where they are going instead of where they have been. Didn't Oasis 1994-2000 write about where they WERE at the time of writing? (DM being young and wishing for a better life, WTSMG riding the early fame, BHN over blowing and bloating the fame and partying like the rock stars they were, SOTSOG the hang over and the withdrawal and the comedown of the drugs.....).

When you have GO LET IT OUT and GAS PANIC in the same album, PYMWYMI just doesn't seem fresh.
