...and I'm absolutely loving it. Which is nothing abnormal, as I've always loved this song.
I love the verses and the menacing sneer Liam gives them.
I love the banging-on kind of beat to it
I love the ahhhhhh's and Noel's backing vox, especially the "Hey, watch out!"
It's repetitive sure, but I think that suits the song
I love the guitar, drums and keyboard on it
I love how the song is so perfectly SOTSOG...tends to divide opinion, even among fans, but shows a vulnerable Oasis trying something different and IMO succeeding
There must be someone else who actually really likes this song, surely. Can't be just me can it?

I do have a soft spot for it. It's far from the worst song on SOTSOG, I really like Noel's vocals on it as well.

It definitely has a cool dark vibe that Oasis hadn't yet explored on an album. A lot of people knock it for strongly borrowing the melody from the Doors' song "Roadhouse Blues" and for the lyrics not being fully developed. This probably should have been attempted live on the SOTSOG tour. Sadly it was not.

It's certainly a song that wouldnt have fit on any album before or since (maaaaybe DOYS) and one that stands out.
I like Noel's demo of it but completely misses Liam's influence.

I remember my first try at this song when I didn't come back to any Oasis tunes for a few days because I was shocked at how terrible it was. I especially hated the weird buzz at the start, it always seemed to kind of.. hypnotize me, if you know what I mean. It scared me.
But now, after a few years, I have overcome my fear and learned to enjoy it. Cool tune.

I've always liked the demo better. Liam usually makes every song that he sings on, better. But I think this song would have been better served with Noel on vocals.

I like this song too, it has a great vibe, Spike Stent did a good job on the production, it is more a good piece of experimental work than a proper song IMO.

I really like it. Not among Oasis best, obviously, but I find it very enjoyable.
Not dogshite at all. Little James is dogshite. This isn't.

Song is okay, but I love Liam's vocal on it. Menacing.

How is it experimental? Its Roadhouse Blues by The Doors. Its not that borrowing is a problem but this song is shit, even Liam can't save it.

It's alright, but needed verses to get things really going. The choir was a nice touch and I think Noel's "Watch out!" kills the song a bit. He doesn't sound that enthusiastic.
Full On almost uses the same music and is a much better song IMO.

Full On almost uses the same music and is a much better song IMO. Liam should have sung Full On, it would have sounded pretty much like a better version of PYMWYMI.

I'm a defender of this song, it gets too much stick. Its quite experimental, but at the same time, a good rock song, which SOTSOG needed really.. SOTSOG needed many things. It needed more songs and better songs in place of weaker ones. LAMB was a huge gaffe. So was ICSAL. Two more rockers plus LAMB would have made SOTSOG go down a lot better than it did. Very dark record. Needed a little light IMO.

This thread made me go back to this song. Having listened to it again, I may despise it a little less. If I listen to it just once and not along with the whole album, surely it's listenable (but nothing more). But it's on SOTSOG, this song just ruin the vibe of the album completely for me. SOTSOG needed lots of things except rockers. If it's meant to be a 'sad' album, let it be.

Its one of the very few oasis songs i can't listen to. Its probably Noel's worst song.

It is an absolute mess and isn't even worthy of being a b-side, let alone being on the fucking album.

I always found it funny Noel and Liam would rip on Nirvana and Pearl Jam for being sad/miserable bands while Oasis provided listeners with youth anthems. Then they make SOTSOG and join the rank and file. I always preferred Oasis to write about where they are going instead of where they have been. After the excess of Be Here Now I never would have expected them to transition into this dark of an album. Still has some awesome tunes though. Part of a band's journey I guess.

Liam's vocal makes it a decent song, same with I Can See a Liar, Who Feels Love, Roll it Over etc.
Liam really did carry that album.

I don't really see the connection between the two songs but to answer the question: amazement. When I was first getting into Oasis I did it chronogically, so when I listened to Fade Away was when every single tune was delighting my ears. Then came PYMWYMI and a brief break away from Oasis music. To make one more comment: I write songs, and as a songwriter, I used to have this disgust towards those who write one or two melody lines and try to make a proper song out of it. It's just so fucking lazy. Although I am more tolerant with simple song structures now, come on, it's pretty evident PYMWYMI is structurally nothing. Nothing.

I knew it was a bad sign when Oasis was doing their mini Christmas tour of America in 1999, when asked about the upcoming release of SOTSOG during tv interviews, Noel kept telling people it had two stinkers on there (PYMWYMI and ICSAL). Not good when he is telling people two songs suck.

Take out ICSAL and PYMWYMI from SOTSOG and put LAMB and Full On with Liam singing, also change some lyrics from LJ and it would have been a great Oasis album.

Think this is exactly why I like this album so much. For me Oasis was a band that represented being genuine, and that's not only about being joyful or having fun, there must be some low points at times. SOTSOG is the album I can listen to when things are not quite right. Read an Oasis special issue on a mag the other day and the title just reminded me of why I love this band so much... 'the simplicity that is enough to sum up all the complications in our lives'.
