Ah yes, I know the feeling. Cannot bear to listen to Radio 1 now. Oh for the days of Lamacq and Whiley on the Evening Session. Even she sold out in the end though.

I have been listening to Radio 1 since 2003 and have loved every minute of it. Sometimes there's dull moments, sometimes I want to throw something at my speakers (which I can't since they're like teeny weeny and at the back of my MacBook Pro, but you know what I mean, lol), but I have always found it much better than listening to the dull local radio here, and I enjoy laughing and cringing at the various discussions and events it has to offer. I have so many memories of things I've listened to on R1, and I can tell you that a lot of songs I love, I heard it on there first, whether it be on their shuffle games, the chart show, or some special event. It got me through all the bad times and the good times.
A lot of us aren't in the age demographic that pop music is geared to right now. But you know, you have the benefit of it being radio. Change it when you don't like it, and change it back when there's something interesting back on again.
I listen to 6Music too, but there are times when I feel like I'm not smart enough to enjoy it. It's the same way I feel about listening to the local alternative station here. I don't "get" a lot of the music, and it generally makes me feel really depressed when I do. And I'm already fucked up, so it makes it even worse.
NPR is good too, the sessions and interviews are great. I like radio that makes me happy and relevant.

Oh yes, John Peel Session!
I've discovered quite many fantastic bands by listening to NPR, like The National and Beirut. Their World Cafe Session and Live in Concert are brilliant.
