WAL isnt risky.
Its not out there at all and if anything caters for todays charts.
The opposite of a risk. I love the guy but dont be fooled by the Noel propaganda.

BTL is as risky as it couldve got. Anyone who doesnt agree is a melt. NEITHER OF THEM HAVE EVER TAKEN A RISK IN THEIR NEAR 20 YEAR CAREERS! Get over it ffs.

In fairness Liam took quite a risk taking on those members of the mafia in a bar in Munich.

I'm with you. Probably been drunk to some extent since City won. It's not the worst thing he's ever said. I find the whole thing more and more tiresome. It's been years now. As far as safe goes. They both took a risk re-entering the musical ring. They are wealthy enough they don't strictly need it. Kudos to them both. They've both been "safe" in what they have released so far (with the exception of one Noel b-side). Neither album is a big departure. They're even in that respect. Noel is attempting something experimental musically (even though it may not work out I'll give him some credit for having attempted it). Hopefully we hear it. I'm not gonna complain if it doesn't come out because of quality control. I'd rather a good product than a quick product. BDI took the bigger live risk live by not playing Oasis tunes. Mitigated by that fact that it seems that resolution isn't going to have lasted until they release a second album. It only lasted for about 6 months. I agree with you on Noel up to a point, it may not work out but ffs he should give it a try at least he would have gone for it. I certainly wouldn't slate him for trying. haha don't think we'll ever agree on the BDI/Oasis song thing. The BDI thing isn't about whether they should or should not. It is safer to play Oasis songs, no question. They started off with the riskier approach and are moving to the safer approach As for Noel. He has and is giving it a try. It's not for sure been shelved. He still hasn't gone back in the studio with the AA. If it were a sure thing that it'd work out it wouldn't be as big a risk. And if a risk doesn't work out it doesn't make it any less risky. Fact is that Noel has "gone for it" he recorded an entire album with them. If quality control gets it shelved...we're probably not going to be missing it. Personally I think that if Noel eats the cost of production it's because he doesn't think it's worth releasing because he doesn't like it. Valid reason not to release it IMO. It'd be stupid to release something that he doesn't feel confident in standing behind even at the time of release because he doesn't even like it himself.

WTF? I agreed with you and you write an essay. Lesson learned.
Just because Noel doesn't think its worth releasing doesn't mean it isn't. History will show you his judgement is not always impecable. He's become slippery about it which makes me think he's lost his nerve.
As for BDI, I don't think they are realistically going to attract the amount of people required for a venue change by chucking in a few Oasis songs. Especially after not playing them on their first tour. So I think thats a moot point, they are playing them because they want to and if they do think its going to open some big door for them I think they are mistaken. Depends on which of those you believe i suppose.

He's become slippery about it which makes me think he's lost his nerve. So Noel's tune has changed like this: 1. Press Conference: I have not one, but two albums ready! Get excited fans. 2. The second album is really good - it sounds like Pink Floyd, has spoken word interludes, but is poppy. Are you excited yet? 3. The first album is still in the charts so sorry kids, I'm pushing the release of the 2nd one back a bit. 4. Actually, I'm going to work on the mixes 5. Er, actually, it needs a lot of work... a lot of work 6. In fact, I might not bother releasing it now, sorry for getting your hopes up LOL I don't understand how it could have been so unfinished at point 1. It does point towards the commercial success of HFB causing him to change his mind about releasing something lo-fi and experimental :-(

The unprecedented risk of releasing such a left-field single as WAL was mitigated by getting it in a huge TV advert...

WAL is more risky than BTL. I don't see how that makes sense. BTL was far more risky as a first taste of BDI. It sounded super retro and shocked a lot of people because it was so un-Oasis. WAL is much more radio friendly and modern.
