Anyone ever imagine how great the MTV unplugged performance would have been if Liam actually did the gig? Just imagining a 1996 Liam singing in an all acoustic set gives me goosebumps. There some clips of him singing during the rehearsals for it and he sounded amazing. Every once and a while I just can't help but think about how much more I'd listen to this gig if Liam were on it.

Noel is still somewhat offended to this day that Mtv never released the thing. It is more than obvious why they made that decision. The singer was MIA and as much as some of the fans on here prefer Noel to Liam, the fact of the matter is without Liam Oasis wasn't Oasis.

Of course it would have been better since Liam's voice in 1996 was unbeatable...it's such a shame he didn't do it.

It's a shame, yeah, but the performance is great with Noel singing as well, especially on CNS, Listen Up and Some Might Say (CNS would probably have been the greatest thing ever with Liam singing and Noel providing backing vocals!). Where did you find clips of Liam rehearsing for MTV Unplugged though? Would be very interested to see those!

I've heard this so much, that i really can't imagine Liam even singing it. For the record, I LOVE this set. It's pure bliss.

There was an article written back in '97 or '98 which explained that MTV had footage of Liam singing every song from a practice run they did the day before the show. MTV was seriously considering using that footage and just editing in the crowd where needed. There is definitely footage of Liam singing all those songs. All that Noel sang was Don't Look Back In Anger, It's Good To Be Free (not Talk Tonight) and Morning Glory.
I would love to get my hands on that footage. Maybe if someone knows someone who works for MTV, they could get that footage for us.

I mean, MTV released at least one song on a Unplugged compilation but an Oasis MTV Unplugged would have been up to oasis to release not MTV. That's why it took so long for Nirvana unplugged to be released. If it was up to MTV it would have been released years ago.

I think soo.. it would totally beat the "mustique" tape...

One of my favourite Oasis performances that.
In fact, the word Oasis is kinda unnecessary in that sentence

Liam is absolutely amazing in the 1994 MTV accoutic. He's as good in accoutic as he is in electric, I don't get why he doesn't like it. I would die to see the footage of the unplugged with him.

The yare as significant as The Beatles' appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show in my opinion. Incredible to watch.

Noel did very very well especially considering he was put on the spot. Kind of glad it turned out the way it did.
My highlight is Noel's performance of Some Might Say.
