After about a week of promises I have the full album. It's watermarked and only available to me via stream so I hope you all understand that I can only, once again, give you my impressions. But let's just say I have no doubt a leak is imminent (or perhaps I've just missed it?). I will update this thread as soon as I've had a bit to listen...

Jeff if you would be so kind to answer this question it would be much appreciated. Does EOTR begin just like the instrumental version with the exploding of choir and strings or is it low in the mix over Noel's guitar/vocals? Just curious. Thanks!

Hate to be the Negative Nancy here, but are we sure this "jeffslate" is telling the truth. I know there is a "Jeff Slate"in the media..but anyone could just make up an account name "WalterKronkiteOasis"

lol. This is like torture. Jeff...I might not love you anymore.
But really...I probably won't read this thread because the music is so close...I wouldn't mind a few surprises. Listening to an album by proxy doesn't sound like a lot of fun.
Thanks for thinking of us and keeping the forum in the loop.
But the disks are out and in the hands of the journo masses. Someone has to hate their job.

Thanks to everyone for understanding. Okay here are some thoughts...
As to the specific question about EOTR, it starts off with some studio noise/chatter and Noel coughing, a drum fill and an instrumental section with choir/strings before coming back down for Noel's voice to start. He gives a very strong vocal performance on this one IMHO. The production is huge and I think it's the longest song on the album at about 6 mins.
As for the tracks you've yet to hear yet, most have a Kinks vibe. They are a bit more laid back than TIOBI but that's the general idea. There are trumpets and other songs, and the lyics are very English in that storyteller sense.
As for RM, it's again a bit more laid back, but similar to the version you know. But it has been trimmed down (only one solo/bridge). STC is also similar. It's a bit faster, with acoustic guitar, piano pads and a 3-note LITSWD type key riff over it. The drums come in on the first chorus (with the distorted/vocoder section). It backs off again for the 2nd verse and then the drums come in again, and then again for the 3rd verse. I'm not at home so I can't compare it to the original at the mo, but it seems tightened up in the arrangement. It's a big finish!
What else can I tell ya?

I agree with gdforever, that it's better at this point to wait. But I am happy to answer any questions.

Noel said the second half is darker - how much darker? Is it moody and atmospheric like Let The Lord Shine A Light and Alone On The Rope.

I agree with gdforever, that it's better at this point to wait. But I am happy to answer any questions. I want to ask you about AKA...Broken Arrow, SOTWB & SBAJF. Do these tunes have "hit" quality or are they rather based on "atmosphere"? Or maybe both
