ok for the past 2hrs or so i've only been on facebook & msn chatting to few people ... anyway out of the blue i had a threat detected on my comp,i clicked on remove then it says activate? so i have to pay for the aoftware so i just clicked off it.
then an identity theft alert came up??
then Trojan.bat.anitv.a came up
then after that spambot detected?
Ok so im not sure how or why i've had these threats come up but im seriously worried,i dont want my money going out my bank especially.
i've gone to tools to delete browsing history,i have avg 2011 but that scans every few hrs.
Any ideas or is there a great software that's free that could help? As soon as possible would be great.
lastly all i can think of is that i pm'd my msn to someone on facebook & since then i've had about 3 emails from her so i dont know if she is a fake & maybe it was reading her first email? all it said was how are you doing? or sumat like that,i've removed them to junk folder.
is there anything in the meantime that could help, like by not signing into amazon or sites like that .. hmv??
1 of the threats sais something about amazon .. in a way of i.d. theft??
this is weird, would restoring my comp help??

its very unlikley, i would have thought, that any real threats identified would directly say "this steals your amazon password" for example - but anyone else, please tell me if thats wrong. it could be some software that has installed itself, making up threats -saying it has found threats to make you buy and activate the other software (theirs)... i'd stay with AVG.
I would make a backup of all of your important data on that computer, just to be sure, incase the worst.
If you are happy using AVG, make sure it is always updated to the very latest version and make sure it is doing Deep scanning, so the whole computer, not just "likely" places. Does it include a firewall? If not i would get one asap. I used zonealarm back in the day... And try Adware to see if it finds anything.
Also make sure that your internet browser is updated and has the latest security patches - or move to a more secure browser if you think that may be the issue.

Yeah, there's some spyware which pops up with fake threats being detected. Get a few good anti-spyware programs, and run them.
I suggest using all of these:
SpyBot Search and Destroy
Ad-Aware
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
Using all those 3, in combination with your standard AntiVirus software (Norton, McAfee...), should be all you need.
Before you do any of those scans, though, download and run this program: www.technibble.com/rkill-repair-tool-of-the-week/ --> RKill stops the spyware (if it's the type which I'm suspecting you have). It doesn't eliminate it, it will be back next time you start your computer, but by stopping it from running will increase your chances of the anti-spy ware programs picking it up. Also, if all this fails, google the problem - chances are others have had the same problem and have gone on tech forums - this is always a good way to find solutions to any problem.

^ hey their i downloaded that rkill repair tool ... i scanned my comp after it scanned it says about entering license key?? i doubt i'll be able to remove anything that's damaging it,i dont know what to type for it.
i've been doing data dvds putting music & vid files onto them & i've saved all my fave pages to tx documents.
when i first had my comp i had a disc to reboot,do you think that's what i should do? & start again it'll work alot faster?
If i do im not sure of the first few things to download like avg etc to protect my comp, should i download just 1 software to do scans etc??

I don't fully understand your post.
Run RKill. It should NOT ask for any code. It SHOULD stop any bad spyware that's going on.
After you do that, run the anti-spyware programs and anti virus. Hopefully they come up with something, and therefore allow you to delete the problem.
If worse comes to worse call Dell (or whoever your computer manufacture is) and get them to come out, take it to Bestbuy (if you're in the US) to the Geek Squad, or back up all the files you want and re-store your computer to the original settings.
I'm sorry if I can't help you further, again, search Google or tech forums, if it's not too serious you should be able to get a response and a solution.....

hey! keep in mind that malwarebytes is not a resident antivirus. it's an antispyware but it won't protect you while browsing the internet. you need to re install AVG or another antivirus.

if your willing to spend a bit of money i say get Norton 360, very good security system This. Although Windows 7 likes to lie sometimes, saying - upon reboot - that Firewall/AV isn't turned on. Which pisses me off so I restart the computer just to get rid of the erroneous message. But yes, Norton 360 is the way to go
