GARY NEVILLE was part of a Manchester United team famous for their never-say-die attitude. And that spirit is living on in his Twitter and text antics now he has hung up his boots to concentrate on eco-projects, punditry and grooming his wee 'tache. The ex-England star is fighting back in his battle with NOEL GALLAGHER after the OASIS star hammered him for quoting the band's lyrics on Twitter. And the war of words is being conducted by text message - with GNev's former team-mate RIO FERDINAND acting as middle man, passing the pair's messages to each other. After Noel's insult in Bizarre earlier this week, Gary responded: "Shouldn't you be writing a new album or has your pen run out of ink?" Man City fan Noel replied: "My pen runs on pure gold. Ink's for your daft mates' tattoos." GNev answered: "Gold? If you take any longer you'll be on UK Gold." But the final word went to Mr Big: "The thought of you humming my new tunes while combing your 'tache in the mirror makes me want to take another year off. But if you promise not to buy a copy when it comes out I'll get a move on." It'll die down this weekend. Neither of them have anything to moan about with City in the FA Cup final today and United close to a historic double in the league and Europe. Shame. It's been good while it lasted. www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/3580237/Manchesters-Twitter-battle.html

Right, the first bit was true.
This is complete and utter bollox. The Sun has obviously just made this up because rat face didn't reply to it on Twitter and they needed a story.

Just out of curiosity, why do people get so enraged at Fox News for being partisan and slanting (alleged) news stories, yet just simply laugh off all the falsehoods of The Sun? Doesn't really seem consistent......
But that's by the by here, of course.

Doesn't really seem consistent...... But that's by the by here, of course. Maybe because Fox News is slanting things for a political agenda and the Sun is a generally just being a a stupid tabloid. The political machinations of a 24hr news network can hardly be compared to the activities of newspaper with little or no credibility.

And don't pretend that some people don't get their news from The Sun. And, setting The Sun aside for right now, how about MSNBC? It's the left wing equivalent to Fox News, but I never see the liberal left bash MSNBC! Again, it's all about consistency, and the Fox News bashers lack of it.

Didn't your parents ever tell you two wrongs don't make a right? If every publication on the planet was broadcasting biased propaganda that still would make it alright. If the most you can say is, "well, everyone else does it too" then you are just admitting there is a problem but asserting that your willing to let them do it without any objection. That makes you worse than those that deny the biased reporting in the first place, in my books.

Wow NL4E. Really? Comparing the Sun to Fox News. Don't get me wrong, you're completely right that MSNBC is has a complete liberal bias, and it's no better than Fox's conservative bias, but that's basically comparing apples to oranges; when it comes to comparing the Sun to Fox News.
Fox News slants their political views, the Sun makes funny false hoods. I know people who are dumb enough to believe in the National Enquirer, but that doesn't mean that the National Enquirer is on the same level as Fox News.
NL4E, the second you started typing that crap up, and their is no other way to say it you already started to lose any sort of credibility that you had. You brought in emotion and your own political views, into a conversation that didn't need it. You thought with your emotions, instead of your head. And you made yourself look extremely bad in the process.

And The Sun is unreliable, and I have no problem with that. What I do have a problem is with people who criticize Fox News just because it doesn't fit with their own ideology, but then support/watch/ignore the same fallacies that exist with the likes of MSNBC. If you're not going to be consistent in your argument, you won't be taken seriously. It's that simple. You can't say "Fox News lies, and should be off the air" and call for Murdoch to be stopped when you watch MSNBC. It's hypocrisy at its finest.

NL4E, there's a section of this board where you can talk about politics. Forcing into this section is making you look like an idiot. And you have forced it in this section. MSNBC and Fox News have nothing to do with the Sun, which is just a tabloid. It literally is the equivalent of the National Enquirer. Stop! There's literally no reason to bring this argument into this part of the forum.

Don't underestimate the power of The Sun. To call it "just" a tabloid shows a lack of knowledge of history. The Sun has been calling and endorsing correct General Election results for over 30 years now. It's political influence is still massive. One of the first visitors to Downing Street last year after the Election was one R. Murdoch. The only political influence he has in the UK is through his newspapers (TV News channels are subject to strict impartiality rules).

No. It means that I understand that people have a right to broadcast what they want to. (I swear I'm becoming more and more libertarian by the day). And that I have the foresight to understand this and not be swayed by one source over the other, but rather take everything into consideration. Believe it or not, I do read the NYT's editorials, even if I disagree. I do read leftist blogs, and the like, as well. An educated person doesn't get influenced by the media alone. People need to take more accountability for their actions. This is akin to liberals saying Happy Meals from McDonalds is responsible for childhood obesity. What nonsense.

And that I have the foresight to understand this and not be swayed by one source over the other, but rather take everything into consideration. Based on the discussions you and i have been involved in, i would strongly disagree with that. I only ever see one side of the coin with you. It takes multiple people jumping down your throat for you to look at something from even a slightly different angle after proclaiming yourself 100% correct. I don't understand your motivations for starting this discussion. And where did MSNBC come from? No one mentioned them. They're as obviously left-leaning as Fox is right-leaning - this is not news to anyone. You never see "the left" bash them just like you never see "the right" bash Fox. You're chasing your tail here.

I think because we laugh occasionally at the absurdity and both posting the amusing and only occasionally real stories of the Sun NL4E took it to mean that somehow the Americans on the board endorse crap journalism in all it's forms. That's the only thing I can think would have started him on his tirade...
