I personally don't get why this tune isn't mentioned more on this board. If BHN is a record full of hope and energy, this would be the perfect symbol of it! It carries the spirit, the "we can do it" spirit that is so simple and so cool. It doesn't fail to fill my heart with hope every time I listen to it.
I think the last two tracks of the album (excluding the outro) defines itself, both singing a hopeful future in its own grand way. They also represent myself, too, and consequently they are the only reason why I rate BHN as the third best Oasis album.
Yes, it does drag a bit at the end. But imo it is the most fundamental part of the whole 7 minutes, the part where the spirit is conveyed in very complete yet so simple form. It transforms the tune into something special.
I want to know what other people here think of the song.

I totally agree with you. It's Gettin Better Man and All Around The World are the only two BHN songs I listen to all the time without growing bored. IGBM has a very simple melody, but it is a great, fresh song.

It's the ridiculousness of the song that makes it endearing. The way Noel + Liam just repeat "IT'S GETTING BETTER MAN!!!!!!!!!" 50 times in a row at the end without caring what people think is just a ballsy thing to put on a major record. I love it, it really fits in with the atmosphere of the song, and because of it it's really easy to get caught up in the "we can do anything, the world is ours" excitement of the entire album.

My favorite part is when it builds and finally explodes into the guitar solo. Oasis were great at doing that before Noel became scared of the solo post BHN (although there were still moments, like on RM)

Absolutely right, the fade-in at the beginning, Liam's sneer, the build up at the solo, the 34 (or-so) times they repeat "It's getting better man", each time with different guitar parts, at the end even female backing vocals, it's complete madness.... If I'm feeling down, the only thing I need to do is put up IGBM and AATW, and I'm happy. Still don't get why so many people hate BHN. If I'm in the right mood, and I just want to go medferrit, I even consider BHN sometimes as my favorite album. If I were a fan in 1997, I think BHN would've been exactly the suitable triumphant successor of the 2 previous blockbusters. The melodies are (imho, and even Noel stated that even though he hates BHN, the tunes are there) as good as WTSMG. The album is more "Rock 'n roll" as WTSMG, more on the level of DM. "Let's just make each song twice as loud and twice as long, just because we can." Seemed to be the spirit at the time. That is exactly the only thing most people hate about this album. To me, it only makes it all even better

Noel has stated that with Be Here Now that the tunes were there - they were just too long and over complicated.
Noel said about Standing on the Shoulder of Giants - that the tunes just weren't there but the production is good.
If those 2 albums were Oasis's 3rd album - SOTSOG production on BHN songs - then we would have had one astonishing album!!!!!

Aside from Go Let it Out and maybe Gas Panic, the production on SOTSOG was pretty awful. I actually prefer the production on Be Here Now...on songs like All Around the World and Fade In-Out, you feel like you're actually in the room when all the madness was going on.

It's weird that people criticized how Oasis didn't develop with BHN, even though its sound is rather different from DM and WTSMG. Of course it isn't as radio-friendly or mass-appealing, but it's still great. What a wonderful thread this is

Good song, not one of my favorities, but 7 min is too long for this song, but love the part where the solo ends and Liam comes in saying It's getting better man!!.
Ah, the overproduction on BHN is one of the things which set it apart from the others, they were at the most madness time and it was transferred well into the album.

I honestly think that if BHN hadn't been overproduced, that album wouldn't have been as exciting as it is.

If BHN hadn't been overproduced and overlong, it would have been WTYMG part 2: more of the same, I think that the band didn't wanted it, manly Noel who wanted something fresh on his compositions. For me I can accept the overproduction, but the overlong lenght of the songs is what I hate.

BHN was the first Oasis album I listened to in full (probably the first album I ever listened to all the way through) and I remember constantly rewinding back the guitar solo in IGB(M!!). I remember thing this is the best song ever. I don't like as much as I did back then but I still like it very much and plus I love the outro, especially Noel's little "'Hey'"s between Liam's vocals.

The songs lack momentum and excitement. The melodies are great but they are sabotaged by the obnoxious sound and the plodding tempos.
The primary reason i made the oasis edits was be here now.Slightly faster, less treble and edited by a minute or two per song.I would love to hear better remixes, but until noel moves his lazy ass,i have my own poppier be here now, down to 56 minutes from 70.No more boring,lead-footed and unlistenable, but lighter, warmer, snappy and lively.

First and foremost, the main reason that BHN is a contender for best Oasis album is because its Liams best album. Top drawer performance on every song he sings. He never sounded so good, and hes amazing on IGBM. Shout it from the rooftops!!!

they all can't be as good as 'let's all make believe'. Let's All Make Believe is a really good song indeed, but for some reason I got tired of it way too fast. I once thought it was the best song ever; now I think it's a slightly better version of RM.
