So at the weekend i downloaded a few new recommended driver updates in order to play a game i had purchased. All was fine but now i just keep getting the blue screen of death and the laptop shuts down (unless using safge mode) I have restored my laptop to the setting previous to my changes but this hasnt sorted the problem.
My McAfee security has also been knocked out and will no longer carryout a scan or repair :-(
Is there any adive you guys gcan give me? I really do not want to have to wipe the laptop and re-install windows 7. (i wouldnt even knowhow)
Cheers

it looks to be a driver problem. What makes you say that? How do i back up all my installed programmes, itunes playlists etc to external disk? Not sure about iTunes playlists as I'd rather gouge my eyeball out with a rusty fork than use that particular piece of software. However after a quick google, I found this support.apple.com/kb/TA47831it is dated 2008 though so I'm not sure this will be the same in the latest version of shitTunes? As for your programs - the bad news is you cant really back them up unless they are just stand-alone .exe files that sit somewhere on your hardrive - if you've installed a program using Windows then you'll just need to install it again I'm afraid - although like the above example with iTunes, you might be able to back up some of the settings/configuration on some of them, and then just import/restore these again once you have everything reinstalled. *Edit. Actually, you could back them all up if you have taken a backup image of the whole hard drive before you had these issues, but I'm guessing you haven't?

I reckon it could be a driver error as the error i get on the blue screen says something like
"DRIVER_NOT EQUAL TO....."
and i was messing about with drivers the other day trying to get a game to run on my system.
Ive managed to back up itunes and copy over some files to an exteranal drive. + i did save all my pics, games, vids to it a few weeks back so i shouldnt lose too much stuff.
I'll be re-installing windows later and if that dont work im screwed.
Cheers Globe

^Yeah, if its the driver you installed that you think is casuing this, then try removing it.
Once you do get everything back-up and running, it might be an idea to take an image of the whole drive incase this kind of thing happens again, its really easy to do in Windows 7.
