hi there i am trying to burn a copy of the bbc electric proms to dvd... but so far am having trouble... 3 blank dvd's have ended up in the trash i have an hp pavilion dm4-1065 notebook w/ i5 processor... all programs and applications closed... battery fully charged and plugged in... i try to burn with windows explorer at lowest possible speed setting (on my computer it is 3x) ... burn seems to go fine but at the very end (the last 30 seconds) during the 'finalizing' process, it freezes up and then the disc is no good ..... tried using wmp and hp mediasmart, but for some reason, i can not seem to drag the 3 files into the 'to be burn' list .... was thinking of downloading the latest free version of ashampoo off of cnet, it is supposed to be 'spyware free' but some users have said it installs a 'toolbar' onto your machine... not sure i like the sounds of that : / sorry for the long post... thanks for reading, ANY help would be greatly appreciated ! Windows Explorer and all them deal with data and audio, you want a specific program that deals with VOBs and DVDs. Nero does this and I do believe it has a trial.
I'd also try cleaning your DVD drive if it's freezing. I don't use mine for writing CDs too much and it always screws up right when I need it. A small towel damped with water should do.

Run your vobs through dvd shrink and back up using no compression and save as a ISO file. Then burn with dvd decrypter. Best way to burn your dvd files for free.

no problem mate also check what sort of blank media u are using dvd - or dvd + play huge factor in successful burning. your dvd burner might only only be able to handle one format. also using cheap media might have something to do with it.

Hmm memorex tend be hit and miss. I would try another brand. Verbatim, LG, TDK, Sony are good brands never had a problem with any of them.

i used to avoid all memorex products like the plague, however i have found their cdr's to be quite reliable in recent years... that's why i went for these... but maybe their dvd's are still shit. i'll try the sony dvd - r 's
