If he doesn't get enough attention he has to try and be 'controversial', hence this topic. Its mearly an effort to hide the fact that he's a tedious twat.

MGMT have some great tracks... their current album was a bit of a let down..
Broken Bells - The High Road - yeah its not bad... but its very similar sounding to MGMTs first record.. not a bad thing..
u are right tho, music is very different... vampire weekend and that general style seem to be whats popular over here(AU) these days...
some of it i like.. some of it is simply terrible... better than oasis?? not to me... VERY different style.. at the end of the day i suppose its personaly preference..
I prefer oasis' sound... simple.
U may not... as someone above stated.. dont listen if u dont like!
Just to make another point re Vampire weekend et al, it almost seems as tho these bands are popular just becuase its the cool thing to be into.. annoying as all hell if u ask me!

Vampire Weekend is popular because they make catchy, pop tunes. Nothing more, nothing less. It's not because they're the "cool" thing to be into.

You would be surprised... maybe from where u are from.. but over here in Australia, commercial radio proactically dictacts what should be considered cool and what shouldnt...

there's soo much choice with music these days, that there isnt really a particular scene that is bigger than the other
I kinda agree with Oasis finishing now, but I'm glad we had the post 2000 albums because we had some great songs and the tours of course!!!!!!!!

At least in Vampire Weekend's case, they have no major label backing. So it was just a group of people who liked them because of their tunes and not because of advertising, airplay, etc. Then, once it got that kind of exposure, a wider audience started to take notice. Their last album is one of the very, very few that have reached the billboard #1 on an indie label.
