oasisnewsroom.live4ever.us/Fingers crossed he does - I hoped for choirs and strings on the last Oasis album and was disappointed (but not really surprised) to hear their musical palette was limited to just guitars, drum and bass again. And the Whatever performance from TCT is my favourite live performance of that song. I think it would be great - it would also steer Noel away from Paul Weller type 'dad rock'.

Noel is capable of writing the best album of this decade. And if he uses choir and orchestra, he'll be halfway there.
Probably, this will be the only album after BHN that will be finished like Noel wants it to be.

As long as its not overused...SOTSOG's almost immaculate production (I think) is ruined by too much choir.

This is awesome news. I really hope Noel really preparing a solo album without overhyping it in the media.

I haven't heard the new Weller album, but can 22 Dreams, an album that is more musically diverse and musically interesting then any Oasis album, really be categorized as "dad" rock?

I haven't heard the new Weller album, but can 22 Dreams, an album that is more musically diverse and musically interesting then any Oasis album, really be categorized as "dad" rock? I certainly wouldn't call it that. I love 22 Dreams, I think it's a beautiful piece of work, amazingly diverse, full of ideas and an album whose songs take on a totally different "feel" when listened to in the context of the full record. Most people can't be bothered to make albums like that now, or even listen to (or even buy) full albums. A lot of people call themselves Mods, but Weller is possibly the only authentic Mod making music right now. "Mod" means "modernist", not "my head is stuck in the '60s". He's constantly trying new things, he's never stayed still for very long, he's just got this driving passion to make as much music as possible. If Noel dared to even try and get his solo album to be as experimental and diverse as Weller's in recent years, I'd have so much more respect for him. If he brings out an album of Stop the Clocks-ish songs; well that's nice and everything, good little melodies, but I reckon it'd be a missed opportunity to do something other than record an album of songs that could've been any Oasis b-side of the past 10 years. It takes more than slamming down a choir over a song to make it good. He knows that, it's just a question of how much effort he's willing to put in. In my opinion he was heading in a good direction with Falling Down - I'm not a big fan of that particular song but it's not the kind of song we're used to hearing from him. I'd rather he didn't do anything like The Style Council though! With all the hair gel and ear-fiddling.

Would love to hear Noel do something like this. I want him to go back to Morning Glory type songs: the instrumentation and orchestration (like on Cast No Shadow) would be brilliant. I want to hear a 21st century Morning Glory.

I think it will sound class with a choir on it. Dare say we won't know for a while, can't see the album being out to end of 2011 at the earliest. Hopefully Noel raises the bar again cos his standards slipped on DOYS. Good songs but nothing more. No classics.

Music is ART, and art is having different ideas and most importantly experimenting with different genres to created the ART one has in their head. Fine by me to have a certain sound on your albums, and I TOTALLY welcome new veins of the creations Noel can put out. Its like riding a bike down the same old street, bunny hopping over the same old pothole, it get tiring after a while
