Hopefully Rage Against The Machine have set a new trend of getting classic songs to the top of the charts fom Facebook campaigns just to show how shite music is these days. Anyway, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their second album Meat Is Murder (released February 1985) , there is a Facebook campaign to get the classic How Soon Is Now to the top of the Official UK Charts. Sales of downloads will count from the January 31st right through to February 6th in order to try and get it to number one. BBC Manchester will be supporting this campaign in a few days. www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=231490408007&ref=mf

That might be true but it doesn't make Killing In The Name in anyway a decent song

That had more of a cause, to prevent Simon Cowell n the rest of that X-Factor shit from getting another christmas number 1. True Killing In The Name isn't the greatest of songs but it was the british public saying enough is enough. I doubt another campaign like it will work so soon, no matter how great How Soon Is Now is as a song. What we really need is something new, a new era of rock music to come along n wash away all this rnb n pop bullshit thats been dominating the charts for the past 10 years or so. Something with the same impact britpop had in the mid-90s, synth/new wave had in the 80s and punk in the 70s!

www.gigwise.com/news/54104/Personally, I dislike RATM, so it would be fantastic news for The Smiths to get their first ever number one.

i personally think that rage against the machine are one of the best bands of the 90s, and that tom morello is one of the best guitarists of the past 30 years. that said, with all these online petitions and movements, i see this thing all imploding. soon, every fan is going to be making one of these things. these guys better not blow their fuse, but good luck to them... they picked another great song.
