So what do you all make of the new liner notes by Hamish McBain?
(assuming he wrote all of them)
I only have BHN, TMP, and DBTT as those were the ones I didnt have originals of. But when I put on BHN and read those liner notes, over and over, man it was like poetry! the good kind, that is. I've never read such an eloquent and articulate review of BHN and what those days were like in summer of 1997. Tremendous work. Enjoyed the Masterplan one too (though I dont knwo why he referred to Underneath the Sky as "psychedelic"!) and DBTT is still sealed for now.
Also, does anyone know where I could read the other albums' new liner notes? Are they posted online somewhere? I think they're amazing and dont want to /can't afford to re-purchase the albums I already have just for one page of liner notes, even if that page is 12 inches by 12 inches.
Toronto- Maple Leaf Gardens '00-- Drummer = Alan White, Toronto- Much Music Studios '00-- Drummer = None, Toronto- Molson Amphitheatre '01-- Drummer = Steve White , Toronto- Air Canada Center '06-- Drummer = Zak Starkey, Toronto- Danforth Music Hall '07-- Drummer = Terry Kirkbride, Hong Kong- Asia World Arena '09-- Drummer = Chris Sharrock, Hong Kong- KITEC Star Hall '12-- Drummer = Jeremy Stacey
Re-purchasing all the LPs isnt really an option. I spent a lot fo time and money and effort tracking down originals, and now that they've been released I'm not going to re-purchase the ones I already have. Especially when they're pretty pricey. It's not really feasable to shell out that much just to read the new liner notes.
What were everyone's opinions on them? Like/dislike? Which was best?
