What an absolute travesty. I'm truly devastated. The man virtually responsible for carrying the torch of pop into the 21st century has died. Totally unexpected. Your legendary songs will live with me forever. Billie Jean, Thriller, Earth Song, You Are Not Alone, Beat It, Bad, Black Or White, Dirty Diana, Scream, Smooth Criminal and many, many more. Rest in peace. well said mate... Here here. I'm nearly in tears...RIP K.O.P.

this is horrible. I was shocked when I first heard about it. Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad are classic albums and his early hits with the Jackson 5 are timeless too. I've been watching some videos of him on youtube and the man certainly was the best performer this world has known. He had a GREAT voice too and he could write some great pop music.
Farrah Fawcett died yesterday too but that has had almost no coverage at all because of Wacko Jacko's

I still can't believe he's dead. I liked his hit tunes, and have defended the man because I truly think he was innocent and the charges just exploited his wierdness.
Really sad how he was never allowed to have a childhood due to his abusive dad which, along with his quick rise to fame, fucked him up. And the way the media and society treated him was appalling.
Overall, he means so much to people across the globe and it's indeed a sad day. Still can't get my head around it.

Yesterday was one of the 3 biggest losses in music history! Lennon, Elvis, and MJ in no particular order. He was the consummate entertainer and probably the biggest single artist ever. Nobody can touch how huge he was from the late 70's to the late 80's.
Huge loss to the industry! Hope music and entertainment is his legacy and people don't focus on his odd look and antics. He never had the proper chance to be a child and unfortunately that obviously took a toll on him psychologically.

Gutted & Shocked TBH! I dont think anyone will ever sell records or have a mass influence like him again. A real shame.

He never had the proper chance to be a child and unfortunately that obviously took a toll on him psychologically. R.I.P. Michael Yup, I blame society. He was clearly an unstable man and all society did was attack him instead of get him the help he clearly needed. Furthermore, the media and those lying families who pressed charges did so in an effort to exploit his weirdness for monetary gains. I think society should take the blame for his death. And that's the tragic element in all of this - his death this week could have been prevented. The response worldwide, though, shows how loved and respected this man is/was. So no matter even if you do believe he's guilty, there's no denying the man's brilliance. He deserves to stand amongst the other gods of music like Lennon and Elvis. A true great.

BTW, the personal Doctor of Michael Jackson is VERY suspicious imo. I wouldn't rule out something somewhat dodgy having had happened

Nevermind his solo stuff (which is brilliant, jut to say), I Want You Back is possibly THE greatest pop tune of all time. And it's a fucking shame that so many younger people are under the impression that he was a pedophile or something of the sort. For once, I actually agree with NL4E, the media are viscous animals. Disgusting fucking animals. In the end though, his music will be what lives on, and that's what matters.

A true great. he was an icon, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here, people. part of the job description of being one of the biggest pop icons of the past century is the media hoopla that surrounds you. while i'm not saying it's right (i loathe paparazzi), but it's just part of the job.
