Hello everyone... I'm making my first car trip from the US to Canada to see V fest in Toronto this weekend. I just had a few questions before I mentally and physically prepare for a great trip. 1. do i need a passport 2. how extensive is the stop (questioning, searches, etc) 3. my friend will most likely bring some mary jane, so should we go to great lengths to conceal it from humans and/or k9's these are probably assinine questions, but obviously important as I don't wanna ruin the weekend before the fun begins! cheers

Hey,no passport is needed but you need your birth cert with photo i.d.Canadian customs is known for being a pain in the ass so I wouldn't bring any hippie lettuce with you but if you must, make sure its not in your bags. They're not allowed to go through your pockets but they can search the vehicle.Have fun.

take you passport it makes it easier..last time we went to Toronto (from NY) they asked us:
Where are you going?:
"Toronto"
Why are you going ?
"To see Oasis"
When are you coming back?
Two days
They didn't search us or anything Canadian customs is easy. But going back to Seattle from Vancouver took 2 hours! And the US customs guys were basically acting like homeland security leaned on their shoulders...it was silly, they were the same way coming back from Toronto... I wouldn't bring the mj, isn't that a felony? Crossing borders with drugs? I wouldn't chance it.

Do not bring the mary jane. Not worth it at all. If you're caught, no Oasis for you.

you now need your passport, from what i've heard. either way, it's easier if you have it.

You still do not need your passport to cross by land as of right now, but you do by air. travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2223.htmlWhat you DO need is GOVT ISSUED PHOTO ID (drivers license) *AND* proof of citizenship - BIRTH CERTIFICATE. If you have a passport, that satisfies both requirements. * CURRENTLY: U.S. citizens need to present either (a) a passport, passport card (scheduled to be in full production beginning in July 2008), or WHTI-compliant document; or (b) a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, along with proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate. * LATER: On June 1, 2009, the U.S. government will implement the full requirements of the land and sea phase of WHTI. The proposed rules require most U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry to have a passport, passport card, or WHTI-compliant document.

And leave the weed at home. There are random drug sniffing dogs from time to time, and you really don't want this to be your time....
