i think most people got this album on pre-order. i think that will all go toward first week sales. i for one will be in town the day it's out, 9am sharp. too many times i've ordered from amazon and got an album a day late. quite often got them a day or two earlier too, but i don't wanna risk it with this one.

Enough people have pre-ordered it enough to make it the 11th most popular album on US iTunes right now...that's impressive.

i dunno how people can prefer owning the album as a download. don't you want a physical copy?

I cant digitally download an album. As a diehard, I need the ACTUAL album itself. So I can take it anywhere and have all the artwork, lyrics etc... I was thinking about pre ordering the album via Amazon, but I dont wanna risk getting it a day late. Ill be at my local CD store on Oct 7 the second it opens and buy Dig Out Your Soul! I CANT WAIT!

I'm thinking i might just get both. I want the album the minute its released but I also really like owning an actual cd, something i can hold in my hands. with the whole digital download age, i think its nice to go back and be able to feel the music in your hands.

but you can make a digital copy from a physical album at no extra cost and with more freedom in terms of quality and format.

I'm thinking that i'll buy it on Itunes, and I might get the superdeluxe edition.... How will those sales work?

Do iTunes sales count toward album sales for platinum/gold/etc?

I CANT WAIT! yes but you don't really need to pay for the whole album, i mean when you pre order it, all that does is, start downloading "Falling Down" automatically and then iTunes will email you once the album in its entirety is available, in other words it wont charge you right away, actually it wont charge you at all until you go back and decide you always want to buy it, even if in the end you don't end up buying the whole thing, pre ordering helps the album chart on the top 10 on iTunes, it was @ #10 but now it has fallen to #23 in just 1 day... what can we do, that's how things work here in the U.S. oh well...

It shouldnt be a surprise. It went to #10 because it was a new release on preorder and there are Oasis fans in this country. It never was going to hold high. It will be interesting to see where it goes once its released. I would bet it debuts top 10, but the high placement will last the first week and then it plummets.
