It drones, throbs, and is redundant...I love it. When the drum solo kicks in I feel like punching someone in the face. Fucking perfect Oasis. Was about a 7/10 the first day, but now I think to myself: what fucking more do you want out of a voice, guitar, bass, and drum kit?
This, with Falling Down has me jacked for the lp. Give me 2-3 more of these and I'll be off the walls.
Friends are having it too.
Everyone here knows I don't post "jonny hype threads" this shit is real for me.
You can't fuck with this tune.

the 'allllll in good tiiiiiime' bit is awesome... I reckon this is up there with Some Might Say and Supersonic for lead singles. Think Falling Down is gonna be one of those (like TIOBI and Gas Panic) that gets the better reviews but that I don't like quite as much.

I agree, this song just brings a smile to my face. I love it, played when I went to sleep, woke up, on the computer, out running, in the car...I CANNOT STOP, its like crack

tsol and falling down are so radical and a huge departure from oasis' classic albums that i can't stop listening to the two songs.

It's growing on me as well. Although I'm really starting to sour on Dave Sardy. There's a great guitar lick as soon as they come back from the drum solo but you could hardly hear it...Those are the little things that take a song from good (TSOTL) to epic (RNRS). I really hate the way he mixed this song...and I usually defend him

when played live and the lead guitar solo all through to the outro is actually audible, I think it's going to blow it up, epic-wise.

I've sent a rather...."personal" email to the guy who slammed TSOTL on one of the latest posts on the L4E newsroom...I felt compelled to..."express" my views, which they asked people to do as "feedback".

Ennex, same here, just had to be done:
"Good Morning,
having just read your review of the new Oasis single, "The Shock of the Lightning," I felt compelled to write this.
When it comes to Oasis, there is a distinct split right down the middle - the fans - and the people who lurve the monotones of Radiohead and Coldplay - the reviewer here is the latter. An Oasis hater - the easiest of men's clubs to join without an initiation. Those in that club, think it's cool to hate Oasis, pure and simple - "What, you like the new Oasis single? That's not cool."
If a review is to be taken seriously from a journalist who knows his/her stuff, then one of the first rules of journalism should be observed, that of facts.
"Fade-in-out" was not a b-side, indeed, it was not even one of the 3 UK singles released from the band's 3rd album Be Here Now.
Unfortunately for all the Oasis detractors, the band's new single will go to number one, the album will go to number one and the new tour will sell-out across the board - now that is a fact.
Yours."

hypnotic really is a great word for it...those pounding keys, drums and liams straight-ahead vocal.
its nuts cause at face value the song doesnt seem like anyting special, but there's just something about the "feel" to it.
I think thats where the "bring it on down" comps come in, but still its a notch above it in my book.
