Klosterman did a great interview with Noel 2 years ago for Grantland. He's a great writer.

Pearl Jam were GREAT.FACT.
Ten (1991) Vs. (1993) Vitalogy (1994)
Their first 3 albums were extraordinary good.It s impossible for me if you like music and rock, not to like Pearl Jam.
No Code (1996) Yield (1998) Binaural (2000) Riot Act (2002) Pearl Jam (2006) Backspacer (2009) Lightning Bolt (2013)

For me they're pretty much tied as my favourite bands. I grew up with Oasis and they influenced me more than any other band ever did. I adore Oasis and I will always love their music and their style. On the other hand, when I discovered Pearl Jam I fell in love all over again, like I did with Oasis. Later on I sometimes think Pearl Jam were/are a better band who's been willing and daring to mix genres and release different kinds of albums. In fact, I don't think you can compare these two bands at all really, they're are just to different from eachother. Eddie Vedder is a better singer than both Liam and Noel, even if Liam will win it for being charismatic and simply cooler. V.S and Definately Maybe are the best albums of the 90s while Morning Glory and Ten are the big-sellers that no one will ever forget about and whose also will be referred to as the greatest, along with Nirvana's Nevermind.
As I said, they will always share that first place in my heart I'll guess. They're both too good in every way and I'd hate to be forced to choose between them. If I had to make some kind of choice here I would say Pearl Jam were/are the better band while I love Oasis more for what they were and what they did. It maybe sounds a little strange but that's how I'd put it.

Chuck Klosterman is a genius. If you haven't read anything by him, do so. "Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs" is hilarious and brilliant and if you read that and enjoy it he has three or four others which are equally as brilliant.
