For ages I've wanted to get a Gibson ES 355, which I can't find it here in Brazil, so I was looking to buy one in the US, since I'm going to Miami in a few weeks... the site has the guitar ( www.musiciansfriend.com/navigation?q=es+355 )but I'm not sure if can trust it.... anyone have an opinion?? btw, can somebody tell me what's a P-90??

from my experience this website is great and coincides with guitar center which is the biggest retail guitar store in America. The ES335 (which im sure u know is the same noels been playin in red) is a real expensive guitar but through this site u will prolly save a few hundred dollars

It looks like a reliable site (as zzsounds.com or guitarcenter.com) but I think these kind of sites don't ship Gibson products out of the U.S, but not sure of that.
You can also try on ebay, there are some beautiful 355's for 3000/4000$ (new and used ones)
A P-90 is a Gibson single-coil pickup. It has more mids and treble than a typical humbucker and for that reason it sounds brighter.

Musician's Friend is an excellent company. Keep in mind, it's not always the best idea to buy gear in other countries. While you may save a few hundred now, imagine what will happen if the guitar (or similar product) later develops a problem. Many companies only honor a warranty in the country it was purchased. The reason for this is that different companies distribute different brands throughout the world. That is to say, the distributor for Fender may be different in the UK versus Brazil versus the US. So imagine you buy an amp in the U.S. but it needs to be serviced 8 months later while in Brazil. At this point, a fix for the amp which may have cost nothing in the U.S. under warranty may now cost several hundred dollars simply to ship it back to the United States for warranty coverage. What happens then if there are further problems to handle? The other option is to get it fixed in Brazil where it wouldn't be covered under warranty and your savings from the initial purchase have now disappeared. Look closely at the manufacturer's warranty for the country your product is being purchased in and then make a purchase with that in mind. You can usually find the warranty statement on the website of the company whose product you will be purchasing. In any case, that's a really nice guitar to buy, so when you get it, enjoy!

Dealing with separate countries can be tricky, but from a purely buying stuff standpoint, the website is top notch. I purchased my Epiphone Les Paul from there and plenty of other guitar goodies from them over the years.
Good Luck!!!

I thought about a lot about those aspects, but I'm convinced that it's a worthy investiment... I mean, since I can't find this guitar nowhere here in south america, it's basically the only way I could ever get my hands in one... also I spoke with the guys from Gibson here in Brazil and they said that if the guitar ever came here it would cost about $8000,00 (!!!!) which is way more than the double of the original price.... considering all that, and the fact that I'm a guitar lover, hehe, I'm almost going for it...

Then go for it. It's a dream of a guitar.

this is a great website. very reliable. a gibson 355 is an amazing guitar.
a p-90 is a pickup also known as a soapbox, as that what it looks like. pete townshend's sg's from 1968-1970 had p-90s, so find a picture online. those pickups that he's using are p-90s. they produce a very warm tone that is very hard to beat.

I didn't know why you were mixing 355's and p-90's but now I think I know what you were talking about... That is a wicked combination! a 355 with two ear-dog p-90's. Anyway it's a limited run of 75 guitars and personally I prefer the typical creamy PAF sound. (and to me a 355 MUST be cherry red!)

i think that the finish is nice, but it's because of the gold hardware and the bigsby that make the 335 look bad.
a black es guitar can look amazing. b.b. king's lucille, 'nuff said.

I dig 'em. On a purely aesthetic level, I don't usually like P-90s, but I like the hardware and bigsby. I think this is an absolutely gorgeous guitar...
