no i dont. i think we once were way more impulsive, but through the years became less and less impulsive. We are now chained to more and more rules and socialogical "duties". This limits us to be realy impulsive.
example: the mobile phone.
10 years ago, if you wanted to go to a bar with your friends, you just went. maybe you called him on his house-phone, but when no one answered you just went and see what happened and who was there and who wast. now you just call him and see what hes doing and if youre lucky you end up with that friend in the bar 5 hours later or the next day or even next weekend.

in my opinion we have become a society (IN THE USA) of immediate gratification, so yes... americans have the attn span of a knat.. (look at the shit we buy into viA the TV and media snippets.. 4 more years of Bush - THANKS FOR NOT PAYING ATTENTION !)
