Whether its a "well thought out and written PR letters published by an interest group..... " or not is as close to being an irrelevant comment as it possibly gets. It doesnt detract from the fact that that is the situtation on the ground in Iraq.
Currently the Dinar is at 1470 to 1 dollar (July 2005) and the average wage for an Iraqi worker is $45 US dollars per month.
Imagine living in a world where a kilo of lamb was 1/12th of your monthly income and you have no electricty and no phone lines. You live in constant fear that if the Americans don't shoot you, your own countrymen probably will.
In the UK, 20 litres of unleaded petrol (at 80p a litre) would cost about £16. I know petrol is expensive here, but it won't cost you 1/3rd the monthly wage...
"I agree.... especially the first line about editing"
SHOCK HORROR! Imagine editing the letters they receive to make it more suitable for publication... Try looking at the letters page of any magazine and what does it say about reserving the right....?
Before the sanctions Iraq had a higher doctors and dentists ratio for 1000 of the population that the UK did, a growing middle class, a great education system etc
15 years later and look at what the US and UK have turned it into...the cradle of civilisation reduced to desert and rubble.

Welcome to the world of people who live in 3rd World Countries...I grew up in The Philippines (which is considerably more modernized than most 3rd world countries) but corruption, price inflation, kidnappings and bombings are pretty much common place. I've grown to live with it...I know there should be a change but how can one take place when the very people u elect into government are all corrupt to begin with?
No amount of U.S intervention can help these countries...Corruption & greed runs far too deep.

No amount of U.S intervention can help these countries It's US intervention that usually runs to the heart of the fucking problem.

No amount of U.S intervention can help these countries It's US intervention that usually runs to the heart of the fucking problem. listen man, i'm very anti-war. however, now that we're in there, what else can we do? we need to finish what bush and blair started, or else there will be mass chaos (as if there isn't chaos already) (just some friendly criticism) you get where i'm coming from, mate? here's my political rant: my biggest problem with the war is that we are not fighting a certain person or group, we're fighting an idea: islamic radicalism vs. "democracy" (the same 'democracy' that didn't elect george bush into presidency). terrorism is our generation's communism, and bush is our generation's joe mccarthy, whose followers eventually turned against him and led to the smothering of his scare tactics and reputation and led to his quick downfall (and ultimately his untimely death due to alcoholism). nyr has spoken.

Britain and America were right to go to war, end of! perhaps when school starts up again you might want to go ask your teacher what 'international law' is and why lying and deception is wrong. failing that, just don't post on a thread where the adults of this forum are having a discussion.

Britain and America were right to go to war, end of! I understand why the states and Britain went to war, but I'm not sure I entirely agree with it.
