First off, before I make my point, I don't want this thread to be misunderstood. It is in no way intended to be disrespectful to those involved in the tragedies in New York, Madrid or London. I have friends in London who, thankfully, are alright but I was very worried about last week. The events gone by in the aforementioned cities horrified me and in no way do I even slightly condone what happened.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
New York 9/11 saw 3,000 people (or thereabouts) killed Madrid saw (I think) around 80 people killed London saw 50+ people killed
Statistics are often given of war death tolls, and these figures are often discounted relative to NY, Madrid & London, as those attacks were inflicted on innocent civilians, not people who signed up to fight in a war.
However in Iraq, at least 10,000 civilians(and up to 25,000 depending where you read your info) have been killed since "Operation Liberation & Freedom" (or whatever it's called) was put into place. And no-one seems to really care all that much.
As Orwell put it himself, all men are created equal, but some are more equal than others.
Just wondering what other peoples thoughts are on this?

I think you are absolutely right. But there is one big difference, and that is that innocent Iraqi people are being killed by accident and not on purpose, like in London, NYC and Madrid.

I totally see your point mate, apparently it's ok for the army to kill people even ''accidentally'', as long as it is being made for a ''good'' cause. But most of those deaths are under ''war-related casualties'' or something like that...and the civilians form NYC, Madrid and London were under a total different situation...there's no war or anything....those are civilians killing other civilians for no good cause and with the sole purpose to cause pain...that's probably why we get more affected by those deaths.

Ya well the thing is, it's relative to you, but it ain't relative to them. Like, you're reasoning it out and getting all philosophical and pondering it-- meanwhile they're just trying to kill you lol.
