How do I get the sound that noel has in the Gas Panic solo? I have a tubescreamer, wah, and delay pedal, but is there something I'm missing?

There are definitely effects on that solo. If you watch the Familiar To Millions DVD you'll notice that Noel uses a variety of pedals. I don't have any experience with them so I can't tell you what's in use but if I had to guess I'd say a wah pedal and a delay.

In every live performance of Gas Panic that I've heard, the solo never sounds live what's on the album.
I think there was some pretty nice sound mixing happening there.
A tube screamer, wah-wah pedal and a delay pedal can help you get close.

i've not listened to this for a while but i always got the impression that the solo is recorded and played backwards. there are pedals that can be used for a backwards effect when played live, which I believe he uses but does not recreate the solo exact because he didn't play it like that.....then again I could be wrong but i always thought that. anyone know a definitive answer?

Ok....Here is how I get my "Gas Panic" sound...
Guitar -> Compressor -> Dunlop Wah -> Tubescreamer -> Delay (Short repeats)...set up EQ on amp for a midrange sound.
Now...if you want the crazy sounding stuff in the beginning - thats a chorus at high speed. Modulation is easy to find - I use a flanger and I turn up the settings all the way.
EDIT - He actually uses a rotovibe. Doesnt surprise me. You can still get the effect without a roto though using another modualtion effect at high speeds.
Also, I think Gem uses reverse delay. I have a Digitech delay which can do this - but it doesnt eliminate the original signal :-( which means it doesnt sound the same. There are other pedals which will eliminate the original signal (Im sure Boss has one).
HTH Brian.
