I had a Zoom pedal like that, I didn't like it is not good for stage at all. They wiring sometimes gets crossed when you step on it. ANd some of the effects there is a huge range between volume. I would sooner go with seperate pedals. If you want a good distortion pedal go for a Jekyll & Hyde pedal by Visual Sound.

SteveHaze....
Glad to see there are people like us still out there. The best distortion you can get is from your amp. Your natural harmonics and nuances will be heard from the amp. Do you have an amp? If so...Tube or Solid State? Those effect pedals will sound good through a Solid State amp...keep that in mind. I bought two effect units like that Zoom, a Digitech unit (SUCKS!!!!) and probably the best one you can buy (Behringer V-Amp...great tone for recording. I love it, but never use it anymore - I just mike my amp.) If you have a tube amp then fiddle around with individual effects. Dont bother with multi-effects. You will thank me when you are gigging.
Brian.
BTW - I wouldnt buy the Zoom. Its shit. Try a V-Amp...they are really good. I love mine.

i thougt i'd just put my two cents in,i agree that amp distortion is the best, pedals seem to sound too muddy.however a good gain pedal for boost in a solo is great, try to get an ibanez tubescreamer or a good fuzz, thats what i'm into now.other than that i use just a vox wah and an mxr phase 90.amp wise,i am using a marshall avt50 combo dirty with a fender champ110 for clean, they sound great,i'm trying to get an early page tone/97,98 noel tone, and they do the job great!!also remember that pedals tend to make a guitarist lazy,so try to keep your chops up!a violin bow is cool too,lol

Avoid that pedal like the plague! It's useless. Stevehaze is right, the only pedal anyone really needs is a wah, and possibly a delay. I use a Dunlop Crybaby (which I love) but some people prefer the Vox. I have a Boss DD3 delay which is good, but not great, and a little bit pricey.

Ibanez TS-9 Tube Screamer Boss DD-3 Dan Electric Echo pedal those are the pedals Noel was using during the HC tour. He still uses the Tube Screamer and the Boss delay, don't know if he still uses the Dan Electro echo pedal.

Are there any examples in oasis songs i could listen to You really have no need for any pedal if you're starting out. The best guitar players don't use any at all - Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton - they all (usually) plug their guitars straight into their amp. i'm lookin for the pedal or a similar one that he uses normally for the last song of a gig when it the sound goes mad if you know what i mean.!! That's usually a delay pedal with a hold function. Noel just gets some weird feedback noise by holding the guitar up to the amp and then the pedal continuously repeats that sound.

I'm well aware of that. That's why I said "usually" in my original post. Jimi Hendrix is probably the most famous wah pedal user of all time. My point was that some of those guitar players best sounds came from plugging the guitar straight into the amp.
