i'm in a band and i want to do a great song as an act of bravado to the other bands in my area, sort of like how oasis did 'i am the walrus'.
right now i'm thinking about 'revolution', 'rain', 'holidays in the sun'...
any suggestions, preferably songs people can rock to?

Revolution sounds good...
Pearl Jam does a mean version of Baba O Riley that impresses...
A heavy version of "satisfaction" would be cool kinda like otis redding's version. Same with "You can't always get what you want"...heavy it up a bit and I reckon it would be rockin. The old Motown song "Money (That's What I Want", as covered by the Beatles and Led Zeppelin is another good one...or daytripper even.
Rain is not nearly as impressive as I am the Walrus because it's not very well known and is slow. Besides, U2 and The Jam have done it with little success (I dislike both versions).
Cum on feel the noize can be done well (as we here all know), but it would sort of be a cop out song.
All up to your personal preferences really.

i was thinking the same about rain.
i won't do satisfaction, because the people where i come from will think i'm doing a britney spears cover...

Anything off of Beatles "Revolver" (that is guitar driven) and make it your own song.
