I'm in a band called Rain, and we've just finished our demo. We have a heavy Oasis influence in our music, and I though it would be a good idea to post a track on here for critique. Scroll down further for correct link. I know the link looks weird, but it works.
Thanks

Stop trying to be Oasis and maybe you'll get somewhere!
Its fine to be influenced by bands but theres no point just replicating them.
Develop your own sound - its the only way to get anywhere

Oasis? It doesn't sound anything like them I don't think. Can you please explain what aspects of the song you found to be Oasis like?

Oasis? It doesn't sound anything like them I don't think. Can you please explain what aspects of the song you found to be Oasis like? Well for a start - the singer is doing a full scale Liam Gallagher impression... and the solo is just pure Noel The whole song reminds me of the 'Be Here Now' era I'm not saying its a bad song at all - you guys have potential. But to me, the Oasis influence is too over-powering and btw - your drummer sounds great but he doesnt have to show off on every single second of the track. less is more....

Can you please elaborate please, Tellah? It would be greatly appreciated if you could give more information than that. Everyone else has. I don't mean to sound angry, but we need more than a few words.

Sorry, we had to convert the file to make it quicker to upload, the other file is massive. Oh, we are from Glasgow, Scotland by the way, we are all 16.
Cheers for the responses, they're greatly appreciated

Sorry forgot to mention, we have more songs, that have a different sound than Oasis, just not posted at the moment. This is one of the first batch of songs, and as you know, the first songs of a band always rely heavily on the band's influences. Thank you for your honest opinion.
Cheers

Stop trying to be Oasis and maybe you'll get somewhere! Its fine to be influenced by bands but theres no point just replicating them. Develop your own sound - its the only way to get anywhere i think tis cool that your really influenced by oasis....most bands nowa days arnt...they are alll bubble gum punk....you don really hear that oasis genre anymore....especially in hte west...so i think it might bring some attention...history repeats itself so someone who brings that back to the table will probalby get alot of publicity....look at lots of popular punk bands? 6 years ago punk wasnt popular! EDWIN WAS! how gay... anyway...yeah i think you might get somewhere...you gotta mix in some of yourself too...mix it with everything you love...you got a good ear! so goodluck man
